CVT not lasting?

(1/8) > >>

limcheemeng:
Heard many people commented that CVT gearbox may not be lasting and cost a bomb to replace.
Thought of driving this car for more than 5 yrs but have this concern.

Anyone has experience problems with their CVT?
Anyone has CVT for more than 5 yrs and still running fine?
Anyone replaced their CVT before?

Pls share your experience and views.

My previous ride was a Pairie from Jul 2002 to Jan 2009 with a smooth CVT.  So that was 6.5 trouble-free years on one gear box.  My driving style is mostly urban with regular road trips up to Malaysia during school holidays.  It should be alright if you are not pushing your ride to its limit.
