can a dc5v connect to the car battery?

Hi, i have just purchased a camera for car, the model is dv004. I would like to connect it to my car battery rather than using up my car adapter. The output is 5v, adn i understand the car battery is 12v.

Anyone can advise how can i go about this without damaging my camera?
