Driving non-stop on NSH, any problem?
arias48:
Hi, do you guys think our Latio is able to withstands 5 hours non-stop cruising on NSH without any problem (ie. overheat, tires, etc). Is it bad for our ride? Intend to cut short my 'north' traveling journal by having lesser stopover.
fam:
i think car nowadays are able to stand long duration of driving la, people in other countries also drive long distance, jus tat we stay in a small country and does not have much chance to do long driving. Think maybe for the 5 hrs, it's good to have a 15mins break in between to wash up and top up petrol. If travel fast on NSH, the car will consume more petrol and yr car might not even be able to make it to travel for 5hrs without topping up.
1)A short 15mins break in between wun take up much time
2)A wash up will freshen yrself up - safety
3)It gives your car a short time to cool down also
4)Nt scare later cant find petrol kiosk if petrol runs low
*Remb to check yr car tyres, brake pads, engine oil level and radiator water level before the trip. And hv msia tow truck number might come in handy(touch wood).
Have a happy trip.
Ying:
done that many times. Full tank from SG, 5 hours door to door non stop still have ~1/4 tank. Normal speed.
Problem?
The Driver - Can your butt take it? will you fall asleep?
know your tyre condition and your limit.
I had NEVER done that with 0W20 engine oil.

Not an issue at all. Proven drive to Penang with one 20 mins stop over to refuel thats all
Do the checks as what fam recommends. If those are alright and your car is not due for service, should'en be a problem at all

If cruising smoothly, the wind will help cool the car. The engine, tires will be heated to a constant temperature and stays there. What we afraid of is get stuck in jam, (like when going up Genting) for 2 hours. The start stop movement will overheat the engine, break and gear.
Of course, I am assuming your tires are still new.
Last month, I witness a mini lorry's tire gave way. Luckily, I was quite far back. Perhaps, the tires were overdue for change.
