Battery Flat just at 13 months
xmen_71:
Just to share my experience.
I bought this battery brand, "H" which was made in Korea and the brand also produce tyres. In 13 months, it failed yesterday. I always switch off my aircon before I off my ignition so that there is no surge in current when I start my car later. No amps or other fittings on my car. To add onto my disappointment, the agent did not even want to offer me any discount when I ask if I could get any discount on a new battery. I believe now why quality product like Amaron or Bosch still stay in the market after so long. I will never buy any product from that agent ever again !

heard from different battery shops that Amaron is no longer as lastings as before. . the standard is dropping too.

Maintenance Free batteries tend to have a shorter life span than normal batteries. That's why I still stick to the normal type. My stock lasted me for 2.5 mths and still working, but change it at TC just to have a peace of mind, and enjoy the discount.

The lifespan of the battery depends on the quality, maintenance (charging and discharging) and driving pattern. Normal wet battery needs to check battery water level and top up (if necessary) every month whereas you don't need to do anything on maintenance batteries. Frequent short distance and stop and go driving will shorten the battery lifespan. Whenever you start your car, you are draining 20% to 30% of the battery and if you are driving to your next destination within 10 to 20 minutes, you are likely to undercharge your battery.
If you have a lot of short distance driving, the battery normally has insufficient charging throughout its lifespan and fails prematurely. Usually, you need to drive at least 30 minutes to charge up from the power loss from engine starting.
Furthermore, if you have gadgets install in your car or with the battery, some gadgets may drain the battery or some may prolong the battery. My current Amaron battery was changed in 2007 until now together with my UTR Power Charger Evo Series.
Currently, my company also bringing in battery indicator and charging system kit from Sweden. The CTEK comfort indicator kit is selling at S$39.90 with 1 year warranty. These CTEK products are also installed in luxury and sport cars as standard.

depending on the battery shops and their story... Sometimes, it depends on business point of views. Some shops sell a few brands of batteries and some will tend to promote certain brand of batteries because of higher "profit" (and not really battery quality) as compared to other brands where their battery prices are controlled. If these shops are selling very long lifespan batteries, how do they survive long without replacing their customers' next battery??? hahaha!!!
Anyway, my company is selling hundreds if not thousands of Amaron batteries since 2007 and problem Amaron batteries was less than 3%. In other words, problem Amaron batteries that broke down within 1 years was less than 3%. Many of my customers and members who installed Amaron batteries from me, usually last 2 years or longer especially those with my UTR Power Charger Evo Series in their cars. I know 1 of my mechanics who is driving VW Caddy with my UTR Power Charger Evo Series, his car battery lasted 3.5 years until he replaced his battery 3 months ago even though his battery was not actually dead but just weak.
