Battery Flat just at 13 months
xmen_71:
Very difficult to find wet battery nowaday. Called a few shops but none have it. So no choice but to buy maintenance free battery. My 1st original battery from Latio lasted me for 3 yrs and I changed it as it was weak not because it failed.

Normal wet battery needs to check battery water level and top up (if necessary) every month whereas you don't need to do anything on maintenance batteries. Frequent short distance and stop and go driving will shorten the battery lifespan. Whenever you start your car, you are draining 20% to 30% of the battery and if you are driving to your next destination within 10 to 20 minutes, you are likely to undercharge your battery.
If you have a lot of short distance driving, the battery normally has insufficient charging throughout its lifespan and fails prematurely. Usually, you need to drive at least 30 minutes to charge up from the power loss from engine starting.

This seems to my driving style. Short distance, less than 30 mins drive, frequent start and stop. I only top up water during the servicing of my car. But my on my wet battery.
MF battery to me only looks nicer, but at the expense of price and short life span. I agree, many battery shops do not carry wet batteries, looking for the wet one for my next change, probably another year later. Till now still no confident with MF battery, heard too many stories...

varta is another trustworthy brand
clarence:
I heard that Varta batteries are made in China now. No more German made.
