Newbie and jus bought a 2nd Latio Sport Premium.
« on: October 24, 2010, 01:14:02 PM »
Hey all,

Need some advice on my new purchase. It's a YR06 Latio Sport Premium Black. Current milage is about 93k km+++. I heard from my buddy that when the car reaches 100K km, it will need to change some belt and it's gonna be costly. But the sales person told me that my car is not running on timing belt and doesnt required any change. Is it true?

Also, any tips on how & when I need maintance for my car?

I'm really a very very new driver and know nuts about car maintance... So pls advice.

Thanks all!

i'm driving a end year 07 nissan latio sedan.

so far only

-change brake pads
-change engine oil
-fan belt (squeaks when i start up the car in the cold morning)
-aircon air filter

thats about it.

i never go for servicing ever since the first 3 free servicing given by tan chong. After that only Engine oil @ every 10k intervals.

Just make sure regular EO change you should be good to go i guess

my 1 cent experience
more or less nothing else much

If your car is coming to 100k KM, you will need to change the platinum spark plug which is quite costly, my advise to you is to do a major servicing since you just purchase the car. Service to include change of coolant, brake fluid, EO, gear fluid and get the mechanic to check on your drive belt and also check the brake pad, that should give you a peace of mind when you drive.

For peace of mind, esp when come to 2nd hand car purchase with unknown history of the car, i feel it is better to purchase warranty for the car.

i purchase their silver warranty when i got my 3yrs old latio half a year ago.

Take note tat i ask the car agent to purchase for me the warranty, thus i got it at quite a gd price. If u r a Safra Member, think got 10% discount also.

Hello bro..

It seems like a good deal to get a warranty from Khang.. so far heard anyone making a claim?
Is it easy to claim or they will give tons of excuses? I heard CVT transmission alot of problems..

Like to share further?

Thanks

i was recommended by my friend to get their warranty. He experienced a faulty gear box and they change it for him. He was very pleased with the service and highly recommend it to me.

But my experience with them was not very pleasant so far though. Think their business have been really good lately and their service standard starts to drop. Was quite pissed off with their service level and have talk to their boss bout it.

But nevertheless, was quite worried bout the CVT gear box also, heard replacing one will easily cost >10k. So i rather play safe den be really sorry one day.

They also cover quite a number of stuffs in their warranty package. Refer to my link for details.

Btw, if u really interested, do a search on khang warranty, think they offer good rate for agents, and some agents give out freebies when u purchase the waarranty through them.

Hi bro,

Just realized your message was referring to me.

My dad bought the latio from tan chong.

Not very sure on the maintanence fees as my dad is always the one paying.

But agar agar pricing

Every 10,000km
1 x Oil filter from stockiest <$6
1 x Synthetic Oil, last used was amsoil x $15 x 4 bottles
1 x Service charge cause lazy + oil disposal $ 10

Total : $76 plus minus

1 x Battery change maybe around $110
Brakes around maybe $100 not very sure
Fan belt also cant remember but maybe around $80

Looking at total mileage now around 55k and the fact that i changed synthetic around the 15k mark .. after the first 3 free servicing..

Total spent = $594 .. ++ abit more for maybe wipers and 3m carpets.. =]

2007 Oct Latio if i am not wrong
