Yes, 0w30 or 5w30 is the correct spec, w40 would be too thick, bad for FC, throttle response and start-up protection.

I beg to differ, Redline 5w30 is too thin for my liking. Amsoil is slightly thicker. Using Mobil1 0w40 now, FC remains good, throttle response very good, engine seems smoother n quieter. Only bad point is startup takes abit longer than redline.

trex101:
Redline and Amsoil 5w30 are around 10.5cSt at 100'c while M1 0w40 at 13.5cSt, that's about 29% increase in viscosity. The thicker M1 will quiet down the engine but FC might suffer due to higher fluid drag. If it works fine for your Latio, keep using it as you will have the best of both world, quiet engine plus good FC.

How do you consider if the millage is high? 100K?

So for a 50K servicing, which would be best ideal?
5W30 or 5W40? Please advise. Thanks.

trex101:
Depends on your engine condition really, if use good quality synthetic from day one, around 150-200k would be consider high mileage but if using cheap supermarket synthetic then maybe by 80-100k already consider old.

If you track/monitor your FC from day 1, usually your FC will peak after 20-30k km run-in, it should maintain the same FC till around 100-150k.

The best method is to keep your engine clean and in good condition from day 1, then you don't have to worry for the rest of your COE period.
