shucks, maybe the guys at Soxxi really smoke me, but if true, then what is the purpose of our immoboliser?

Soxxi may not be wrong.....we are talking about the big head mechanical key (not the one slotted into the ikey whereby there is a chip embedded inside)

unless the big head mechanical key also has a chip embedded inside....let me check it out tonite....and post my findings......

pizzaboy:
Yup our mechanical key works è same as modern bikes equipped wif an embedded chip inside è black plastic key holder. U can juz duplicate a spare but when u crank ur engine nothin will happen.
For m/cycles we usually will duplicate a spare to open compartments, fuel cap or side panniers while warmin up engine but u cant ignite ur engine wif juz dat ordinary duplicate key...

For bikes it cost abt 40-70 bucks to duplicate chip keys. As for our latio, my advice is go make another i-key ($200++) rather than duplicate è mechanical key. More worth it if u get wat i mean

kt:
I duplicated my mechanical key for $180 at a Soxxi branch at AMK Ave 6 market. The i-key they quote me about $300, if I remember correctly.

if you need to do a new iKey, Nissan might be a better choice.

I did a new iKey in August. Went to Nissan instead of Soxxi as the price with Nissan was better.

They did a reprogram for my old iKey together with the new iKey.
