Myth on poorer FC after servicing

<< < (4/4)

dareindie:
yeah, it's thick judging by the slower move off now. well, i should have but i guess it's too late. the package allows between shell and mobil. For Shell it's 5w 40, so wanted mobil 0w40 on the picture since previous owner was using it, they say cost more. then settled for the mobil thinking it's should at least be the same as shell. but then, they put in 5w50. sigh... really didn't think in the interests of their customer.

Previously my FC is average 15km/l too and my best record is 17km/l++. Now dropped to 10-14km/l range, depending how long i can stand for 90km/h.

I am using Toyota Fully Synthetic Engine Oils 5w40 since day 1 (I seldom try to over 170km/h). I only use Nissan Fully Synthetic Engine Oils for my last service and it can hit 180km/h (I tested on last Sunday when I see a motorbiker laying on his motorbike, with two feets pointing the sky, on NSHW).  :D

pizzaboy:
u wan good fc use w20 instead but dun expect much protection for ur engine esp if u like to loot ur car past 6k rpm on every gear change or maintain above 16Okm/h

josho:
i ever tried 0w20 and I can assure you that it is not a very good idea.

5w40 is comfortable range tho. As pizzaboy mentioned, protection of your engine.

nzmg:
If car is stock and normal driving in singapore, w20 is good.  If I remember correctly, w30 is recommended for Latio.
w40 or w50 is already too thick.

For engine protection, viscosity is only part of the equation.
Getting good engine oils (good =/= expensive) and maintaining your oil change frequency is equally important.
