tyre losing air

(1/6) > >>

joyrob:
recently, i just change to new set of tyres 185/65 GR80..

then after 3 days, i went to top up my air, shocked to find one of them only read 97 KPa !!! so i top up to 240 kpa, and monitor, then a few days later, same thing..

next day, i went straight to installer, and he manage to find a nail on the tyre.. he took it out, and patch it back with something like a tubing inserting into the hole.. air top up to 240 kpa

after one day, i went to top up air, and found the air about 200 kpa.... is this normal ?? from my exp i dun think air lose out so fast...

and also, is the patching reliable ?

maverick1975:
the patch probably wasnt that good. it will tend to lose air as the tyre rolls along.

joyrob:
so any recommendation ? i can't be changing the tyre just like that ???

maverick1975:
it actually depends where the puncture is..if its on the sidewall then will need to change tyre as when its rolling, its under tension and will open up again..if its on the track itself, due to compression, should seal itself when you are rolling, so just bring back to the shop and get it checked again and repatched..hope this helps...

josho:
If it is side that got the hole, beware. I had that burst before.. :p end up change the tyre (kena scold by dad.. years ago)

Anyway, how to check if my tire had enough air and at the correct psi?
