Alternator / Aircon Belt replacement
« on: October 24, 2008, 12:22:00 PM »
I've just changed my alternator/aircon belt and milage is 59500km, just 500 km short of the 60K mark, the belt actually split into I think is 3 pieces, don't know what is the recommended chage interval but I would advise all bro and sis to change theirs at about 50K km if they drive their car hard and before they go for their long driving trips.

I changed mine at 68k.  The belt did give some weird noise during startup so decided to change.

i change mine at 40k servicing under NPMP, just go back TC tell them very noisy during start-up, they will replace, but chargeable if not under NPMP, some bros says autosavers also can change at a cheaper price

For your case, better pop the bonnet and take a look at the spinning belt when the engine is running. The obvious signs are squeaky noise and split line(s) on the belt. When the belt fails eventually, you will not have air-con.

I just changed mine too at 60K service. It was screeching and could see many split lines on the belt when it's spinning.

It's below about $80 inclusive of labour (I think is $30 Parts, $50 Labour).

Cheers.

KEL.

autosaver is charging $45 for the belt and $25 labour.  As i did my servicing there b4, they waive off my labour.

Thanks all for the updates..at least not so scarely now (no air con still not so bad), shall monitor the condition based on input from KEL. Will try to hit 60kkm b4 replacing. Thanks.
