According to my SE, the first 3 free servicings use mineral oil. Only the 4th-7th free service then TCM uses synthetic.

If we want to use synthetic oil during the 10,000km servicing, do you know how much do we have to top up?

i think someone mentioned earlier to top up is extra $70. Carrefour on sale can get Mobil 1 for abt $53 and Shell Helix Ultra for abt $56. i waiting for next time synthetic oil comes on sale there b4 i go pickup 1 bottle for my 10k service.

Guess u got additional NPMP (4 services) free on top of ur free 1st 3 servicing. For 1st 3 servicing, TC will use Mineral Oil (not fully synthetic oil). After that, they will use Fastflo Fully synthetic oil in ur NPMP servicing. If u wan to use Shogun, u nd to pay xtra. I hv tried both Fastflo and Shogun, and found Shogun worse than Fastflo (altho TC claims is much better therefore hv to top-up). When using Shogun, engine lacked power, and my mileage also drops (from my avg 12++km/L to 10++/L). Now back to use the Fastflo in my NPMP.

Btw, I am on NPMP till today, me aldy 120K++ (~3 years).
Simple...

no wonder my fc not as good.  TC replace old mineral to shogun during my 40K service (included in NPMP). About the same time I added grounding, VS, spark VS so I was thinking the spark VS might be the one that lower my FC from (NSHW) ~14km/l to ~12km/l, I expect to get better fc after changing to Shogun.  Next time will try other oil. Thanks for the info.

Try using Shogun for a few of my servicing (forgot to buy engine oil so LL use Shogun), After that i will make sure i buy my own engine oil before i go for any servicing. Now on Amsoil and loving it.

The Mobil 1 found at Carrrefour is a parallel import. You will notice the words 'Performance formula' on the bottom left hand corner of the bottle.

It is packed in USA and may not be suitable for our local climate. The authorised ones are packed in Singapore.

The Shell Helix Ultra is made in Malaysia, not Singapore. I have heard enough horror stories of recycled engine oils from Malaysia.

don't think so, no winter in Singapore, there is no difference for 0w30, 5w30 or 10w30.

but when you drive in winter, need to choose engine oil carefully.

What I meant is these parallel import engine oils may not be suitable for the hot and himid climate in Singapore. They are meant for the cooler European climate.

Even your Latio is tropicalised for Singapore climate before being exported here.
Eg. Some cars headed here have bigger radiators.

Hi

The NPMP deal comes with my latio purchase. Anyone knows at what mileage the NPMP starts?

Im considering changing to synthetic oil at 10K. Is it advisable?

Anyone brought engine oil to TCM during servicing before .. do they change a fee?

Tks

Hi all,

I bring my own Amsoil 0W30 for my 10,000km servicing. No service charge. Brought 4 bottles, used only 3 bottles and return me the remaining 1 bottle.

I must say AMSOIL is good, after reading good reviews here in this forum.

Wanna know why i say good?

Normally, from full (at the brink) to first quarter mark will clocked about 120km.

After using AMSOIL, i managed to clock 130km++ a whooping difference of 10KM!

Driving pattern still same: 80% highway 20% city. Quite light footed, rev till 2500RPM from stationary when moving off.

Normally i pump Esso 5000. But after servicing I pumped Esso 8000. I dunno whether Esso 5000 and Esso 8000 unleaded got diff in my FC variations.

All I can say engine now more smooth and more responsive, with better FC. Just my 2 cents.

NPMP is applicable from 20,000 km to 50,000km or 30 mths, whichever comes first.

Recommended to change to synthetic oil at 10,000km so that you can stretch your next oil change to 20,000km rather than 15,000km if you use mineral engine oil.

You can bring your own engine oil but i oyu are under NPMP package, it defeats the purpose as engine oil is already included in the package and I am unsure if they will give you a refund.

Does anyone know if we want to use synthetic engine oil at 10,000km servicing, do we have to top up $$$?

I should say that in general, your car's improved smoothness and responsiveness is due to 2 major factors - new engine oil (can be any brand) and 98 RON petrol.

what i heard is that we are given FastFlow @ our 10000km servicing (in the package)... SO dont need to pay..Just that Fastflow is not as good leh....

I dont think we are given shouken engine oil FREE rite?

maybe those gone for 10000km servicing can check if i am right or not.
