"New" Vios and Altis share identical outdated engine blocks first lauched in the year 2000 9th generation Japan made Corolla.
Toyota's new dual VVTi engine is already in production but not seen in Toyota cars sold in Singapore.

Currently not impressed with our Japanese made cars also. So many problems. Compressor, steering coupling, initial batch of batteries, air con coil leakage... Just to name a few common ones.
Recently my car start to have a sound like a bad valve gasping for air. Go to TC they say its the air intake box loose. Tried to do insulation. Slightly better but not convinced leh.
Sigh.... At least the car is nice and spacious and affordable... Just question mark whether can last for 10 years or more..
This less than 3 year old car changed more parts than my ex-1988, 300,000 km jeep already.
