i-VTEC is good only for high rev and hard driving, when the valves are activated and open up to induce more air into the engine.

For normal driving, it is not of much use to pay such a high premium.

Yep. Civic activate when rpm reaches 4800rpm. It like supercharged engine.

You pay premium for the technology.

The aceleration can be additive.   :devil2:

By the way, I don't think this is new technology. VTEC has been around for almost 20 years, first seen in the 1992 EG series Honda Civic .

Just like Toyota's i-VVTi.

Just a slight improvement over the old VTEC.

Marketing hype to some extent.

bwah... 60k... singapore where got chance hit 4000+rpm. today morning drive to tanjong pagar my average speed was 30km/h lor. 4000rpm... gear 1 maybe.

aye why u all compare latio with vios.. i think it's an unfair comparison leh.. not that i am biased, but i think latio is more suited to match against thaiyota altis, honda civic. it is a mid-range sedan. although it is priced cheap, it cannot be compared that way. i think we got a good deal. i do agree latio looks abit weird and squarish, esp. the sedan version, but ayiah u spend 90% of the time inside the car!

right after latio is the cefiro liao. that one is a camry / accord comparison car leh. if want to compare vios, use nissan march lorh. march interior trim still beats the vios and city hands down.

i drove the old march... even after 13 years the interior is still good. 100% sushi made car. i used to drive a renault van. 5 years after the fabric threads start to come out liao.

Civic FD1 and FD2 has paddle shift. Thus you able to drag your rpm like dragging your gear.

Totally agree with you...I used to drive a thaiyota altis...after 6 months, suspension hit rock bottom and after 1.5yrs...interior starts to peel....damn sian...since i paid 63k for it back in 2005... :weep:

Now for the same money, you can get the latest Altis, with a new body,  :bleh: but still with the same old engine found in your 2005 Altis.

"New" Corolla Altis (carried over engine - same engine as 2000 model Corolla) was selling for a whopping $69,988 in April 2008 !!!  :zipped:

Now just 5 months later, with COE prices still the same, prices have dropped by $10,000 to $59,988.

Congrats to those who bought during the launch. They helped Borneo Motors subsidise the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent in its numerous TV and newspaper ads.  :bleh:
I believe it is the same for all new car launches.  The launch price is always high and it will start to drop within the first few months.  Better be patient and pay less for the same car, unless you want to be amongst the first few people seen driving the new model.  However, the novelty feeling will wear out soon.  Worse, should there be problems, you will also be the first few to experience them.

Personally, I didn't think toyota cars from borneo are worth buying....i think it is very over-priced for the kind of quality and service tat u get from them....the worst part it...after i bought the car...after 1 year...i felt ripped off....now after i sold the car for more than 6 mths...they still call me every now and then to tell me tat my car is due for servicing....

I also received SMS from TCM to remind me that my previous Nissan car was due for servicing.  I traded-in the previous car through TCM agent.  This means TCM never update its record.

Thank you

Saw Axio the other day at BPP ground floor exhibiting....looks nice on the outside...but inside very uncle and yet spacious....was surprise to find out tat it is 1.5 only and i remembered asking the price to be 60+k....a bit expensive for a 1.5....wonder if it is under-powered with such a big car body...

few things i compare latio to axio

during the time i compare, axio was expensive (almost 60k) but latio is cheaper (55k). not sure about now.

axio has less load capacity than latio. anybody got exact numbers?

axio is parallel import, which i do not trust. i have friends with very bad experience with PI, especially if COE price go crazy, they will come out all kinds of excuse ask you to top up. i rather pay 2-3k more for agent to deal with the car.

fc wise, axio is better than latio based on what i learnt

latio's interior is of better quality and i prefer the latio's interior design as well. axio looks very "plastic".

axio looks better on the outside, but a latio with DS3 bodykit looks quite decent also actually.

latio front seats not very comfortable due to bad headrest design. back seats are ok. cannot comment on axio at the moment.

anybody knows the OMV of axio? i think not very high as well.

hi everyone

Thank for all he input. Still can't decide which car (Latio, Atlis and City)to buy now with the new honda city in the picture. But Latio seems to be the best value for money and Jap made.

Cheers
