Car's normal RPM during startup

<< < (2/8) > >>

iagree:
Hello

I think is abt 2000rpm but it shld be hitting that rpm for abt 1 to 2 seconds after you startup, then it will reduce to abt 1500rpm.

clarence:
When engine is cold, rpm metre is higher (ranges from 1,000rpm to 1,600rpm, depending on car model) as all cars are electronically tuned to have higher rpm during cold start to warm up the engine.

When engine has reached optimium operating temperature, which is about 5 mins after you start your engine, rpm at idle should be 800rpm for optimium fuel economy.

If your engine is already warmed up and the rpm is above 800rpm at idle, it is drinking more petrol than necessary.

Hi clarence

iagree with u.

1) 2000rpm+ when start in the morning
2) 1 to 2 seconds after, it will reduce to 1500rpm + -
3) 1 to 2min later (before we drive off the car), it will maintain at around 800 rpm.

Regards.

kanzo:
think if u start ur car withthe air con running, teh rpm will be slightly higher coz the compressor sapping lotsa power.. engine need to work harder :crying:

clarence:
Yes, engine will also be noisier and fuel gauge needle drops faster too.

You will notice lack of power when driving off during cold start with air con turned on.
