Do you use the "Over Drive" often?

The SE advised me to turn off the OD to save on fuel, however the Latio is programmed to reset to ON everytime i start the engine. Do you off the OD everytime you drive? or should just leave it as ON.
thanks.

Your SE was wrong, turn off OD drink more fuel as OD off means lower gear with more power. You should always turn on OD unless you r at mountainous area.

I think this "On" or "Off" thingy is confusing as the OD works the reverse if you On/Off it. To put it simply, in normal daily driving, the word OD light should be off.

Correct me if I am wrong.
When you press the OD button and there will be light on the panel comes on with "OD OFF"....this means that your OD is ON and the system is "reminding" you consistently to turn it off.
Driving with OD on will consume more fuel...the same logic applies when u drive a manual car....when you want to overtake, u down shift ur gear and step on the accelerator to give u the sudden boast of power to lurch forward...but this consume more fuel...the same logic as dragging gear....so with OD ON...it means u r constantly dragging ur gear....
Was scolded by my driving instructor for dragging every gear when i was a student....tat is why when u see those zheng car....they sound like zooooooommmm........zoooooooommmmm......zoooommmmm......:yehyeh: :yehyeh: :yehyeh:

To simpify things,
1. When you engage OD button, OD light appear on your panel with label "OD OFF"
2. This is to remind you to turn it OFF
3. Press OD button again, OD light will disappear on your panel
4. This tell you that you car is back to nromal driving mode.
Hope this help. :yehyeh:

"Generally speaking, overdrive (OD) is the highest gear in the transmission. For normal driving conditions, operation of the overdrive should be enabled only if the average speed is above 70 km/h. It may be necessary to switch it off if the vehicle is being operated in a mountainous area."
So if your panel shows "OD OFF" light up, that mean the OD is OFF or ON?
