Gear Shift problem

--- Quote from: rongshu on October 11, 2008, 09:30:38 AM ---for the alarm sound, it won't sound if you just switch off engine. The ignition switch should be at ACC position.
it only sounds if you try to switch from ACC position to Lock.
So if in gear N and you switch off the engine and continue turning the switch to Lock, you will hear the alarm sound. But if you just switch off the engine and it remains at ACC, there won't be alarm.

you are right! can only lock at P but can off engine at N

When u put to park, some of the teeth of some gear will lock into another gear's slot. So when you park on slope and put to D and release brake, you will feel the car roll abit before the teeth locks the car into a stationary position. So when you release from P next time, its harder to pull because the weight of the cars are on the teeth.
Solution is to put to N, engage parking brake(use leg for latio one), release your foot brake(the one you use to brake normally), den change gear to P.

Ok, golden question: Does that apply for CVT?
SoL:
Not very familiar with CVT leh. Hehehe.
Why don't you try parking on slope and using P without parking brake? If it rolls abit and stop, then its the same thing. But then again, better ask someone more pro.

I try the method; change to N then off ignition then change to P then turn off engine. When release from P next time, much easier to shift.
Will try this method and feedback

So I presumed this is known problem and there is NOTHING much TCM can do, just have to follow the workaround instruction that suggested by various pro here. Going for my 1K service soon.
