Gear Shift problem

No, you have to put to P as the last step.

1. Engage the parking brake. The one you step in and hear it click.
2. Release your normal brakes.
3. Let the car roll abit, then shift to P.
4. Next time when you start the car, step on brakes, start engine, release parking brake, change gear, then drive.

I tried it and it should work okay.

Thanks.  Do you also off the ignition and then the engine like what the other bro did during the process of changing to N, then release brake, then change to P?

SoL:
Actually you can off the engine anytime in any gear, I believe. Shouldn't do any damage. Important thing is just to let the car roll to a stop fully on the parking brake, then shift to P.

Can we shift from N to P if engine is off?  Have never tried that.  Assuming that it is at P, and if engine is off, I cannot shift the gear out of P because when step on brake, it does not release the gear.  In any case, I got your point.

Wanted to try just down, but old habit dies hard.  I automatically shifted to P and then off engine before I could try to shift to N and let it roll.  Will try next time.

Hi Bro,

This really works.  The best solution I have tried.  Since I tried it a few days ago, changing gear from P to D no problem at all.
