I really have no idea.

Please substantiate your claim that Motul is better than Redline.

Otherwise you could be misleading readers.

i think you might be too defensive in your stand + ur choice of words arent too friendly... SOund like everyone own u alot of $$  r the whole TLC revolves around you.

..., Jazz and other guys are just stating their own point of views base on experience or what they have read up..

if it wrong, just let them know... No need to take out all ur shotguns or bombs and wack them and demand them for explanation

Hi Sambal

Would you mind sharing your experience on Shogun EO in terms of responsiveness and FC?

May I check what is the grade you choose and how much extra you top up pls?

Rgds

Hi I usually top up about $30 bucks extra for this oil from package A...if i remember correctly

Because i have only tried 3 brands so far, mine is based on the experience with the 3.

I find the std oild TCM gives Syn is not as good as Shogun for FC.

I am gonna be honest when i say that MY latio feels underpowered always...i have had gearbox changes that has helped so when i think of EO, my concern is always with FC

FC with Shogun inside...no complaints.

I am monitoring my FC with 2nd or 3rd top now. appears to be getting better...with Hicom it averaged 420km for about 40litrs....now moving back to 500plus Km or so for 40 litres

I know other factors influence but genrally my drive style & highway vs city driving stay very similar month on month

At abt 5000-6000 Hicom was making FC go up for my car & also felt a loss pf power agin..this may have been CVT gearbox issue related

I suggest you try all the recommended here keep a log then decide which is the final oil

My car is now 61000plus milage so i have had 6 oil changes. 1x TCM base oil, 1x Hicom 4x Shogun...my poref is with Shogun for now

but if any bro can convince that FC improves with another brand for the avg of the 10K, i will surely try....

pls note TCM does only a minor px cut if you bring your own oil in

I saw Shogun at Giant, wanted to buy but decided not to after spoke with BT TCM saying they take away $30-40 only....not worth the trouble..plus the oil would have caused abt $90 for 4 litres at Giant...

i using fastflo now,
fc drops although it could be due to wifey also using car sometimes, feels it not so responsive especially during hot day  :nonod:

will be using back amsoil 5w30 for next servicing, used them for my 10, 20 & 30k servicing, am satisfied with it.

hmm, if shogun is good, may try it thus no need go buy engine oil myself.

shogun is a good oil..very responsive compare to fastflo, if i remembered correctly i used it for my 20k, only downside was, when its due for servicing u must go change bcoz the FC shoot sky high :out:

About engine oil being black, it means that the oil is doing its job of cleaning up deposits in your engine.

If the oil is not black even after 6K or 7K, then it's a worrying sign or it could be that your car is still new, hence no deposits in the engine.

i am using Redline 0W30, its works fine for me, i ever delay the servicing to 13k before the engine note gets noisy and performance got kinda sluggish.   I have tried Royal Purple, Amsoil, Shell Helix Ultra, Mobil 1, Idemitsu, i think the better ones is Royal purple n Redline

You have to check the manufacture date of those cheap on sale engine oil at Giant.

I saw those 1 litre pack Mobil 1 fully synythetic oil going for only $15 each. So 4 bottles or 4 litres only S$60. Packed in Singapore. Same as those you get from Esso petrol stations retailing at about $110 for 4 litres.

Cheap right?

But the manufacture date was... ahem... October 2004.

Will sealed & unopened engine oil deteriorate over time?

Is it still safe to use 4 year old engine oil?

Above is a good reference for all.

Let's take it in general and not brand specific.

The primary objective of engine oil is to cool & lubricate your engine and remove sludge.

In removing sludge, naturally the oil will be "dirty" at your next oil change.

If the oil is not dirty, then it may not be doing its job.

How do you differentiate the black EO is due to it's cleaning power or it's lousy properties? This I know, oil degrades over time and heat and the color darkened Once it color darkened, it loses it's lubricating properties.

I will let the forumers and mods to judge who misled who, kay ? Did I mention Motul is better than Redline ? Is all up to each individual preference and feel. I just recommend Motul to Bro RG from my humble experience and see whether he find the price of Motul is justifiable of the EO performance.

You are really shallow minded and take this too personally just because you cannot get over the comments that you are the one who misled members all the while. Good luck to you.

dont waste time bro.

talk to idiots, and they will lower you to their level and thrash you.

cheers.

Those are usually for the non branded ones like Carlube Triple R fully synthetic selling at $29 for 5 litres.

But $60 for 4 litres of branded Mobil 1 fully synthetic is considered cheap.
