FR: A SHINY NEW THROTTLE BODY!!
« on: December 27, 2008, 01:12:08 PM »
Dear all,

i've got something to share with you all. I just had my throttle body cleaned and i've taken some pictures to show you!

ok, the first picture im attaching is the product. Its by the brand Threebond, called Super Engine Conditioner. Basically what its meant to do is to clean the throttle body, valves and combustion chamber. How its used is very simply, the 2nd picture will explain. And in the 3rd and 4th picture, u will find the before and after effects!

Ok, for the next picture, what it shows is how the product is applied. Basically, all they did was to disconnected the feedback rubber tube, and sprayed the product in while reving the engine. Had to rev and let go of the accelerator for about 30 seconds, or until the entire can is used up.

While the boss of the workshop was reving my car, I went behind to check if the claims of the mechanic were true. He said the exhaust would be black. True enough, it wasnt as black as those 10,000cc lorries, but it was obviously blacker than my normal exhaust color.

I purposely got them to remove the rubber connector from the air filter box to the throttle body so that i could see the effects myself!

ok, so after revving the engine and spraying the 3bond super engine conditioner, they removed the rubber connector again so that i could take some photos to share.

Voila! I was most impressed with the shine! Pls remember no scrubbing was done, throttle body was not removed, all they did was to spray the white foam like substance. chk it out!!

4th pictures shows the internal part of the throttle body  :devil2:

Verdict: It was obvious that the throttle body was cleaned, so i took the car out for a spin. To be honest, those hopefuls who are expecting any horse or power gain can heheh, bluntly put, forget abt it keke. but what i did feel was that the car was slightly more responsive. The mechanic explained to me that the car will perform better because now the airflow is smoother, less dirt obstructing.

So is it worth doing? Oh well, having clean parts is definitely an important factor for maintenance. Especially those of you with open pods la, stainless steel filter la, and even cotton filters, you might want to check out this throttle body cleaning service and its going at only $30!!

it always amazes you? haahaa, oh well, i believe many others have tried stuff, but perhaps have no shared, or don want to share etc.

effect after cleaning...well as mentioned, not much of an improvement, except jus a tat more responsive and alittle bit more smoother engine, perhaps maybe my TB wasnt all that dirty as i did change it early this year. Perhaps for those of u whose TB is weathered and high mileage liao, can feel much more improvement.
