Just done it today at auobacs Ubi for $65 + $10 labour. They check my car and say rear use size B (35mm)  but they dont have any size that fit latio front springs. Good service.

Example: http://www.mudah.my/vi/1471785.htm?ca=12_s
same box but my is clear type, Listed S$95 for size B but discount price $65. Still have ~6 sets

Hello Ying,

How come your is size B. When I installed in Oct'08, they use size C. I also installed at Autobac at Ubi but at $95  :(

Do you mean that installing the spring stiffeners would need to change the couplings? Does the price includes the couplings ? How much did TCM charge you for the recentering job ?

No no..the coupling is a seperate issue... I installed the stiffeners @ autobacs then brought the car back to TCM to renew the steering wheel coupling... differenet thing ;)

I was at Autobacs Ubi to install my strut bar yesterday. Was chatting with this guy - Ah Yuan - regarding the stiffeners as I am also considering installing after reading the posting in the forum. This was what he told me...

Size B is "bigger" than C apparently. B will fit just nice on the springs after pushing up a little, while C fits easily without jacking the springs. As a result, B in a way stiffens the springs more than C. Cos for you to experience the effect, the springs will have to be compressed if you install Size C. Size B allows little movement. So if you install size B, your ride in general will be bumpier. For size C, it will only cushion the impact when u go over humps.

In the end i did not install. Cos from Ah Yuan, since i seldom carry full load, no CNG tank installed, and I'm not so comfy with bumpier ride (in exchange for more stability), he advised me to delay until i actually experienced the bumper hitting.

That's some sharing for the bros and sis here regarding the stiffeners...  ::)

btw size C is out of stock. only size b left. according to ah yuan, new stocks will only come in in Feb...

oic... So size B for mostly light load driving and size C for mostly loaded driving as it need more compression to feel the effect? Size B is fine with me now, next time when it wear out then try sice C lah.  Btw how much is the alutec strut bar cost?

Ying, how bumpy is the ride with size b stiffeners? Any difference? I like the idea of stability, but not the bumps...  :(

My strut bar cost slightly less than $180 plus installation. Cos Autobacs having a 20% off Alutec struct bar. So the price is $150+. Installation is $20. I went there last Sat, tok to the salesperson. So I tink he bought in 1 bar. He din call me but i called autobac yest. So took the one and only one for latio and now it is in my car...  :yehyeh:

no wonder I did not see any sturt bar for latio there last time.

Using size B, not too bumpy with wife and one kid at the back, noise when driving over the speed strap reduced. I think my rear spring it too soft for me, so Size B just nice for my case.

Oh, may be that's why he want to check at the spring first before telling me which size to get.

I just got the stiffeners installed. Mine was size A for both front and back!! I took the size B for the rear and the mechanic checked. Came out and told me that size B is too small, so need to buy size A. I tink Autobac will check for you if you tell them that you are not very sure of the size.

So far I find the car more stable while driving. Together with the strut bar, the steering seems to be more responsive. Earlier without the stiffeners, the steering feels bit hard to steer.

However when going through the humps and speed regulating strips, can feel the stiffness, so the bounce is greater. Driving wise, some how find that my ride accelerate smoother and faster, and it is more stable driving the car.

yup I was surprised also... I'm nt sure of the older latios, but my FL latio is higher. Its feel like driving those SUVs. So for some drivers, their legs wont be touching the road if they hang their legs out of the door...

Do you mean legs can't touch the road for all seats or only from the driver seat, which is height adjustable?

At least from the driver's seat. My car mah, i rarely will end up as the passenger.

Few days ago i was looking at the height of the windows. There was a non-FL Latio sport parking, butt to butt with mine. found the height is higher.. .dun noe if it is really the case... i'm finding the opportunity to compare the sedans of 2 versions...

Yesterday went to Ubi TCM to check my wheel alignment, so while highliting, I asked the SE about the spring stifferner, he advise me against as this will compromise ride comfort plus shorten the lifespan of the suspension, worst still is, it ,may void the warranty by Nissan, I like sian 1/2.

when ask tcm anythings they sure say cant do this cant do that will void warranty but this is normal to all car agents. So maybe can fix 1st when any problem occur just go outside workshop undo 1st then go back tcm for checking.
