Jerky feeling when moving off from stationary or slow speed

(1/5) > >>

Midnight:
Dear all,

I did a search on this topic and found a related thread but last posted is in August 2007. So i have decided to start a new one. Hopefully can have a more focused discussion on this and also beneficial to new Latio owners.

Personally i drive a Dec 2006 Latio. From yesterday, the traffic is really really heavy (probably sch starts) especially on the expressway and i find myself in a start-stop-start-stop situation for almost 80% of my journey home (fyi i take PIE).

The problem: It is not long before i realised that the car is very jerky when moving off or when car is at slow speed. I am generally easy on the accelerator and do not have the habit of stepping harder in order to accelerator faster.

Does any bros here experience the same and how to resolve this problem? It was brought up in an old thread that TCM changed the fuel pump and problem solved. I am pondering now whether is it the 'style' of a CVT gearbox or has it to do with my driving style, or seriously some parts need replacement?

CVT has infinite gear and suppose to give smooth acceleration. I am more inclined that the jerkiness is not normal. Can anyone share yr experience and information here?

Thanks!

No comments at all?  :(

Only my Latio has such problem?

Today to avoid the PIE jam, i use ECP instead, then kanna accident lane 1. Got to bear with the jerkiness again.

Can anyone give some advise?

Garf83:
erm... i've not experienced this jerkiness u mentioned.  I've had my own experience with PIE's morning & evening jams but i didnt get the jerk.  You may want to ask TC to check on ur next service?

**did u step and hold the accelerator? or u step, release, step, release?

My next servicing is like 7000km away  :( I have make appointment at TC BT for this problem, already... just worried that the service advisor will say "it is normal, CVT is like that one..."

Few scenarios:

1. Accelerate normally, RPM not exceed 2k. I feel that the gear "Judder" (like wiper not smooth like that) while i am accelerating, once above ~50 or 60km/h, it is gone. If i step harder and exceed RPM 2k, the judder feeling is less.

2. Traffic jam situation when my speed cannot go beyond 30km/h kind. Start-Stop-Start-Stop  like that. Confirm can feel jerkiness, not smooth at all. And i cannot rev above 2k because the car will surge so much forward (during a traffic jam)!

3. My journey home is so frustrating that when i reach my MSCP, i rev above 2k in an attempt to avoid the jerkiness but have to release the accelerator very soon because the turn is just round the corner. This is when the car jerk violently. It is like you drop gear suddenly in a manual car and the engine break kicks in. But this is worse coz the car really jerks. I know this is not normal coz i have been driving for 10 years, manual car, 4AT also tried before. Never experience anything like this before.

Pardon my grumbling... I have make appointment to go TC workshop 2 saturdays from now. If anyone till has any experience on this, do share, so that i know how to bring my problem across to the service advisor correctly and most important, efficiently.

Thanks!

SoL:
Sometimes after slowing down for a turn, when I make the turn and step on the accelerator, I feel a slight jerk. But this is only when I step quite a lot. I always thought this is normal, like you suddenly inject alot of fuel into the engine!

Maybe you gentle a bit? Step gently and increase the pressure after that. Not sure if it helps!
