Think he reset the ECM and found it doesn't help and thereafter changed the ECM. After I collected my car, I can immediately feels that my car responsiveness have returned. Just a gradual push on the accelerator and the car zooms off and there are no more dead bands.

ECM - Engine Control Module. The Brain of the Car. Its an electronic circuit board with CPU, Memory.
TCM - Transmission Control Module. Sense car speed and select transmission gear.

Ok. I have my story too. My car currently at 45K mileage. Around 35+ period, a numerous problems with my CVT ride.
Below are my fair shares:
- Rear drum brake knocking sound with slight braking (Renew drum brake assembly)
- Loud humming sound from aircon compressor (Renew compressor and refill freon gas)
- Knocking sound from steerting (Renew steering shaft & snap ring)
- Engine pinging (Renew ECM)
- Fuel guage not accurate (Renew fuel float)
- Engine vibration & knocking sound when accelerate (Renew engine mounting insulator)
- Power loss - (Renew CVT transmission assembly)
- Belt noise - (Renew belt shaft, bracket, pulley & retension belt)
Up to date, I still having the engine pinging and knocking sound when accelerate. I will need to go and bug them again. I am not sure if it's just my car only or it is normal since I do not have any other CVT Latio to compare with.

FYI all the car no power means its a struggle to move...i read about the Taka experience yes...i think mine is like that
My CVT gearbox both changed during warranty. after last change, TCM inform me that warranty will be extended for another year from last change for the gearbox.
I have service with TCM since day one, & have 2 boys one a 3 yr old son & anoter who is one year plus..both are in baby seats...i think my driving style can be described as easy non aggressive.
Changing gearboxes, having kids in the car & maybe trying to keep the car to reduce costs are top of min when i drive...nope no WRX/rally style driving
I need to read the rest of the posts to answer more questions
I am looking forward to a meet up to test the car.
Not to alarm the rest...i think the car is good, obviously my experience with it not great.
Seems some here face the same issues.
Having a community like this helps greatly as when making a point to TCM those lucky to have a normal performing car can be the voice for the est of us.
I paid close to $70K after interest for the car, most of us here pay a lot for the car...if it ain't working to specs the manufacturers should try to fix what is broken...
