Squeky Alternator Belt aqfter only 20,000km in 2 years...
« on: January 15, 2009, 03:27:35 PM »
Anyone had this problems. I know this is a wear and tear item. But my mileage is less than 20,000km for a 2 year old car. If i got back to TCM to try to claim warranty i think they are also going to tell me its wear and tear. But i dun believe an alternator belt only last that long. Its squeaky when  the engine is cold and today after a car wash it was super loud! i think water got in the belt made it worst or something.
Drive bout a min or 2 sound went away. Have a feeling i have to change the belt and pulley together on my own. Anyone change their alternator belt before?

Dont think WD 40 is appropriate. A proper belting grease is preferred.

I have this chip chip when stepping onto the accelerator. At 1st tot is alternator pulley and belt but TCM renew the aircon compressor assembly for me instead during my 30000km svc. My ride was juz over 1yr old.

ya, got the same problem here. once they replace the belt the sound gone.

Also gotten back the old belt and saw a lot of crack on the belt. Was being told that the crack was the cause of the sound.
