Pls Help Strange RPM meter problem

<< < (2/2)

spiff:
I went to Tan Chong Ubi and they were helpful. I showed them the problem when cold start in the morning, drove there without switching off engine. I showed them and they saw the reading 0 rpm at idle. Told them to test on the spot and truly they could not detect any electronic problem.

Finally, they told me they ordered the meter from Japan and will take about 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. Well, I think its fair and will let them replace the crazy meter.

Such a strange problem, the technician say that it is the first case ever......ha ha strike 4D liow

I will post and update everyone on this eccentric problem after I replace the meter.

Thanks for all your inputs and I appreciate your help guys...you are great

Gone with the wind:
After reading your post, I suspect the problem might not be the RPM meter.  How complex can a RPM meter be?  The meter is taking the data from other devices, so the one that feed the meter might be the cause of problem.

My main suspicious is the ECU.  I noticed quite number of Latios out there have different kind of problems with the ECU.

Just my two cents of thought.  Please keep us posted after you have changed the meter, will like to know whether it solves your problem.

Cheers
