Anti-rust coating/treatment?!
david1881:
The coating will have some sound damper effect, meaning your ride will be a bit quieter.
I have done the front wheel arc, boot & spare tire compartment. The effect at the rear boot & spare tire is better, maybe because done inner and outer layer. If you have a subwoofer, the bass will also sound better.
I did it DIY.

Wah.. You all spray on by yourselves ah.. :w00t:
I'm running the stock Toyo J50 tyre (I think some say its not very quiet), but I find the ride noise level to be really low. Guess its the work of the damper effect. Didn't manage to compare before and after because I kena heavy rain when sending the car to Ubi from car collection centre. :crying:

Yes, you need to clean the area before applying so that it stick on to your undercarriage better.
Not sure where to buy the spray on material. I used Dunlop S910/S Anti Rust Underseal. It's black & thick bituminous material, use paint brush to apply on. Found in Malaysia's hardware shops.

Collecting my new Latio this coming week, but would like to ask about this anti-rust coating/treatment thing. The sales guy recommended me to do this 'undercarriage rubber protection layer' to guard against rust and sound dampening (wheel arcs). I've paid up for it already, list price is $385, but I'm having second thoughts.
It's quite contradictory as he first mentioned that all new cars are already 'factory treated', Borneo and Kah Motor also told me the same thing for their cars, but now he's recommending this 'added protection' layer. So would like to find out if anyone here has also gone for this rubber spray, especially new Latio owners (seems like last time don't have such thing from Tan Chong)?
Thanks!

I had mine done at Tuff Kote for only S$200 (arranged by Tan Chong) just before I collected my Latio last May.
Your quote is on the high side.
