hi...
i have been driving a latio for the past 7 months... things were so far so good... for a normal car.... except that the pickup speed abit slow... but of course.... it is a 1498cc car afterall ... what to expect. Other than that, everything is fine for me in terms of spacious and reliability... ...
But when i see the prices nowadays, nissan cars hardly give any value for monies compared to korean car. the price gap is simply too big.... i recall just before the recession, a normal latio was priced between 58K to 60K (even for the new 2009 facelift)... now it had only dropped to 55000 to 56000. Comparatively, hyundai avante cost $54K during pre-recession times and now about $45K...
of course, the currency movements played a major role.. but in reality, nissan is pricing itself out of the marker.. even my friend bought a korean car recently...
Before recession, the latio has a low OMV and high COE but now it is high OMV and low COE - that explains y the price never tumble.
I am not writing with the intention to discourage anyone from buying a nissan or discredit nissan. I believe that nissan cars are comfortable and reliable, it should have made it widely affordable to many people out there by pricing it more competitively in this current economic turmoil... that's all and not to price itself out.

Slow pick-up when moving off can be minimised if you 'understand' your car well.

I agree, must find the sweet spot and it would be just right.
