Which Tan-Chong service center is the best?
« on: April 27, 2009, 11:52:22 AM »
Hi all,

I will be sending my car for the servicing and hence would like advise from brothers and sisters here about your feedback on all Tan Chong Service Center. I think most probably i can either go for the Bukit Timah or AutoClinic around Tuas area. Which one would you think of better servicing?

Also, if Latio hits 10000km, do you think i should continue using the free mineral oil provided from TCM or i should request them to change to fully synthetic? What is the damage for TCM to change to syntheic oil?

Thank you bro and sis for your time.

I just had my 10k km servicing..n changed to synthetic oil. Heard frm others that u can actually start to request to synthetic oil for 2nd servicing instead of waiting til 3rd servicing. is under my package, so im not sure how's the wallet damage will be.

someone told mi...having mineral oil for long run will damage your engine. mineral oil is very dirty. so if possible, change to synthetic as soon as 2nd servicing.

I went to 3 of e service centres
1st servicing - ubi (sent in at 830, collect at 530pm, crazy!! - heard servicing normal take 45min to 1hr...so the rest of the hourSSS r queneing n they taking own sweet time n i rem that day is thurs n not weekend)
2nd servicing - toa payoh (sent in 11, collect at 330pm, sat)
3rd servicing - tuas area (sent in 11, collect at 345pm, sat - but the complimenary washing abit cannot make it compared to the prev. 2 servicing)

I use TC Auto Clinic at Tuas, Sixth Lokyang Road since my previous ride for the following reasons:

1. Not too crowded.  I usually bring my laptop and work from there using the free hotspot while waiting for the service job to be done.  I think the usual free beverages and snack is available at all the service centers.

2. Service Coordinator is friendly and bother to answer to my questions about the car.  He also called up after a few days to check if all is well.

I agree that the car wash CMI but then, that is not the primary objective of the visit.

i went to UBI

i usually book sat morning slots. I will try to arrive much earlier than my booked timing, hoping to get a queue number..

my 3rd servicing , including change Eo >> 8.45am start and collected my car at 1.30pm.

service wise>> not bad.. but sometimes they will miss out minor touch up-> told them to re-secure my visor>> the list said DONE liao.. but in the end never do

Usually i bring my laptop to surf net + go there eat breakfast/tea haha

Both times i send in to Bt Timah. 1st time send in at 7.45am, collect at 10.30am, but they never wash car even though they indicated on their job sheet. So i gave them a really bad review in their survey form and when they called me to ask abt this i blasted them. Coz how can u trust their job sheet? How can u really tell if they actually changed my oil n filter? i actually checked the oil using my dip stick when i got home.

2nd time sent in at 7.45am also n collected at 11.30am coz they had to rectify a few minor things... Some cable in my sterring wheel making rubbing noises whenever i turn the steering wheel fast and the rubber on the body kit peeling off which they replaced. Overall i think Bt Timah ok, lah... But i still prefer my regular workshop coz u can actually see the mechanics working on yr car while u wait. Won't continue with TCM after my NPMP finishes.

I believe as long you still to the 5000km or 6 months service once, then mineral oil is ok.

I did my 40K servicing at Bukit Timah sometime before chinese new year. Send in at 09:00hrs, receive an SMS at 11:45hrs saying servicing completed.

Dun really know how they can do a major servicing, which I also ask them to change my 4 tyres, in 2.5hrs

However, I can say that the service advisor is polite and willing to listen to your problems (I highlighted issues with the fromt brake and gear). However, seems like he have in depth knowledge of nissan car, everything needs to do test ride on the road for confirmation.

Car wash average, can still see oil stain on the body.

However, I didn't receive any call from TCM to check on the satisfactory level of the service.

lok yang is gd, not much ppl if u go on a wkday mornin..
toa payoh u can view the mechanics workin on ur car..
bt timah ok ok niah alot of servicing bay so job done quite fast..
ubi oso not bad, they apply polish on my dashboard and car wash is clean..

U can use mineral for the 1st 3 servicin, but at 15k change to synthetic oil and when 20k onwards u can use synthetic all the way & change oil every 10k

From the many feedback I've seen previously from other posts, I can conclude that the service you get depends on the following factors and is irrelevant to the service centre you send your Latio to:

1. Service Advisor
2. Peak or Off Peak period - Try to send your Latio for servicing on weekdays and also avoid avoid pre festive periods, like Christmas and Chinese New Year.

I changed to fasflo synthetic EO during my 10K service. TCM charged me $74.04. Heard is 5W40?
