hid conversion kit, need help!
« on: April 24, 2009, 09:16:53 PM »
guys when you installed the hid, do you have to deactivate your auto day time running light? i'm installing mine and it seems like only one side is able to light. the manual says that it needs to deactivate the auto day time running light so it can draw a constant 12V to startup both bulbs. i have done test on both bulbs and ballasts and they're working fine.

of cos latio bro, just read from the manual that it needs to deactivate the auto light. my understanding is that it should be plug and play as well but it's not in this case. see comments from the manual below and advise pls.

. "Problem: In many cases, especially for those cars that have Auto ""ON"" or Daytime Running Lights; one or both light cannot Ignite Initially, Discharge Bulb turns off after just start the car, or even sometimes, bulb just turns off when driving."
Solution:You MUST Disconnect the Daytime Running Light or Auto Switch ON function immediately before the actual HID Conversion. Due to the Steady levels of battery voltage is required at 12V or Plus before the initial Ignites of each HID Systems; you must prohibit the less voltage draw of car battery at HID s start time. Daytime Running Light is 7V or less power output, and auto switch on headlight is always turn on seconds right before the car to start the ignition to charge the battery, which means Battery is focus on charging the ignition and waiting for alternator to recharge it back to 12V. Therefore, in both situations, battery is drawing much less power than 12V to initially ignite the HID headlight. Please perform the following: o if you have Daytime Running Light please follow your car s service manual; disconnect the fuse or wiring of Daytime Running lights only.
o If you have Auto Switch On Headlights, please switch the function to Manual Switch On headlights. To avoid further damages, always remember to start your engine before turn on the HID system! "

I'm driving the cvt model and also did my hid. Did not need to deactivate at all.... still runs perfect in the morning. The moment i start in the carpark with auto light function both will still light up properly. Dun think the auto lighting affects

Sorry to hijack this topic.. but i'm curious as to how much is the fine if kena caught by ROV/LTA for installing HID? Do you remove your HIDs when you go for LTA Inspection?

I'm considering to install HIDs...

am waiting for the online vendor to mail me the replacement for the ballast to see if it works. as for the fine wise, dont think that they(ROV) finish catching all of us. so many of us out there are changing it. for inspection wise, isn't it just swapping back the H4 would be enough to pass?
