Congratz and salute to the 28.3km/l Fuel Frugal Challenge winner

<< < (12/13) > >>

Covin:
I'm interested in the tips Nissan gave to the challengers during the briefing. Any bros can share?

Hi,

We are one of the participants in the challenge. FC: 25km / l

1)Vehicle Overrall weight: Avoid carrying unnecessary cargo to enable vehicle
to move on light weight.
: Always keep sufficient petrol & increase frequency of visit to gasoline station.
"Half full is lighter than full tank"

2)Tire sizes & Pressure Setting
: Oversize tires increase road contacts & higher friction, thus consume more fuel.
: Over inflated tires give better mileage but bumpy ride & higher wear on center thread.
: Under inflated tires consume more fuel due to higher frictional road contact & wear on both shoulders.
: Maintain correct tire pressure setting to save fuel & prolong tire lifespan.

3)Vehicle usage
: <Picking, cruising & reversing>
: Light & gradual accelerator pedaling is best for economy driving. Avoid hard & excessive pedaling. Reverse on engine idling speed is most ideal.

<Waiting in vehicle>
: Shut engine if you need to wait in vehicle. Idling speed consume more fuel due to rich air fuel mixture.

<Free wheeling (Release Accelerator Pedal)>
: Release accelarator pedal when approaching traffic red light & cruising down

slope. Allow vehicle to roll forward by vehicle speed momentum to save fuel.

4)Route planning
: Plan your route before setting off.

5)Air conditioner setting
: Air con compressor take up 10% fuel consumption.
: Best temperature setting, 21 - 23 degree for day & 24 - 25 degree for evening.

6)Proper periodical maintenance
: Fuel injection engines need equipments & diagnosis computer from manufacturer to tune to factory optimum specification.
: Engine control module & auto-transmission module are two most important in-car computers to be programmed periodically due to influence from radio waves or telecommunication signals.
: Engine oil & ATF must meet specification for smooth running of engine &
gearbox moving parts. Periodical maintenance is utmost importance. Merely an oil change is insufficient to obtain optimum performance. Complete maintenance package as per manufacturer recommendation is most ideal.

7) Fuel selection
: High octane fuel is expensive & may not be necessary.
: Recommend octane 95 which is well above octane 92 0r 91 as recommended by manufacturer.
: Spending on higher octane fuel can be saved to buy more mileage by using octane 95 fuel.

8) Driving habits - Gradual acceleration <Most effective for fuel economy>
: Hard & rapid acceleration during pickup will not necessary speed up vehicle but only consume more fuel. <keep below 2200RPM>
: Auto gear change is governed by control module in relation to vehicle speed & engine throttle opening.
:Most economical cruising range is at 4th gear <OD> where engine RPM is at 1500-1900 RPM with vehicle speed around 70 - 80km/hr.

hwlee:
thanks covin.

Covin:
Hi guys,

Sorry for key in wrongly for the Fuel 95 into fuel 59 :bleh: Do correction liao, hehe.

I was follow the Nissan briefing notes to type for the sentence "Most economical cursing range" blah blah... I not sure its wrong or correct for the word <cursing> sorry ya :D

Have a nice day!

Covin:
Hi,

me again, LOL. Called to Alvin, just know that the spelling is wrong for the briefing notes. Alvin told me that during the briefing, everyone was laughing at this word, "cursing". M_m I guess i mostly fall Zzzz when attended the briefing. Anyway, i'm sorry.

"Cruising" is the correct word, not cursing

thanks, Silver!

Silver:
you are very welcome and don't worry

it was great of you to inform us of the "tips" given during the briefing
