Anw, Sry to sidetrack bros... Did u guys experience squeaking sound from your belt after u changed it at Au*oS*v*r?

I found their workmanship @ Def* Lane Branch to be quite terrible, even though the mechanic was very friendly. Quite shocked to see them tightening my new belt by gut-feel. Shouldn't they use a torque-wrench to get the correct tension on the belt?  :scared:

I was damn pissed with that and ended up going back to TCM to get them adjust to the correct tension to stop the squeaking. TCM did it for free as my car went in to settle some other wty issues like the knocking sound from the engine @ low rpm acceleration (1.8krpm to 2.0krpm)

Pls correct me on the torque-wrench if it's not the correct way to tighten a belt?

RG:
Torque Wrench is Correct bro..but those experiance mechanic use thier Gut feelings mayb quite accurate too, by the way this fan belt thingy is the same as aircon belt rite? if yes..then after installing a new belt the mechanic will only tighten juz a little. then after a week must come back to tighten again for the last time..

Silver:
correct tension in the belt is not achieved by using torque wrench
tension in belt is checked by "measuring" the deflection of belt

torque wrenches are used to ensure that bolts are tightened to a specified torque so as not to damage the threads (in the case of over-tightening the bolts)

Correct explanation!

Oic!! Thanks thanks... I wasn't informed about the "come back in one week for us to re-tighten" thing.

Ok I will take note of this the next time round... My belt started to crack at 35k...

On a separate note, is there such thing as OVER-tightening of the belt?
