Weak starting
« on: September 17, 2009, 09:58:07 AM »
Hi guys, since yesterday, I encounter weak starting of engine. What could be the issue? Is my sparkplug finishing or car battery etc?

Recently, my car battery went flat for no good reason.

On Monday, I reached my office, attempted to lock the car using the knob on the door, beeping was heard. I took out my remote key and tried locking it, but it does not work. So, I tried with manual way.

Until when i get back to my car after work. My car cannot start up at all. I tried with the key but it still does not work. Thought my remote battery went flat, I went to buy CR2025 batt and replace it. From far, I tried locking n unlocking the car, I saw weak faint light on my car.

I called for jump start company to help me . Paid $30. Went to workshop and ask the mech to check e battery for me. Mech checked e car batt and assured that it is still working fine. Even the legend shown that green is OK. (I checked for myself that my Car Batt is in green stage).

Car batt is 1.5yr old. maintenance free. GP brand.

I never leave my light on at all. Assuming that the car batt went flat after i off e engine?

Now im experiencing weak starting of car.
Anyone know e reason?

Thanks

since you changed ur i-key batt & checked the car battery are working fine, could it be your igintion coil??

to me, car batt is 1.5 yr old, is time to change altho it show OK on any tester. why not get another car batt to test it out 1st??

Why don't you ask your mechanic to hook up a fully charged battery and see what happens. Most workshop have spare batteries that are still working.

Thanks. I changed the battery already. Apparently, both side of the battery were bloated out. For now, my car still works fine. *phew*

Ahhhh... how the workshop mech assured you the your batt is still working fine. Even the legend shown that green is OK. Dun he noticed the side of batt is already bloated out??

after stopping the car for 10 min to get my breakfast, came back couldnt start up. I just changed the stock battery in Dec08, so it less than 10 months. called up Nissan sevice centre and they send the mobile van over to change the battery for me. since its less than a year, they replaced the battery FOC but i have to pay $37.50 for the labour charge.
Nowaday the battery really cant last long,
Lucky for me it failed within the warranty period and got it replaced FOC.

I guessed it is still ok back then until few days later. It is pretty dark when I reach the shop for checking. Anyway, now everything is back normal, so it is ok. =)

Lucky for ya, man. At least now the car stable, right?

I do agree about the lasting. I never know battery last 1 yr plus only. ha!

Hi, did u change the stock battery from Nissan previously and service yr car regularly at TCM?

They should come and replace the battery for you with no labour charge as well?

Cos they cost you inconvenience as well.

i service at TCM, my stock battery only last for 1.5 yrs only, died during sunday afternoon i called the mobile service paid for the labor charge and 50% discount for battery. 10 months later the battery died again i called for the mobile service to come and change the battery, paid for the labour charge $37.50 and FOC for the battery replacement.  you sure they can waive the labour charges? next time will bargain on this.

What was your mileage when your battery died at the 1.5th year?

Your 1st battery served you wel but not the 2nd battery.

I believe Tan Chong uses teh FB brand for replacement batteries, which should be quite reliable. But surprisingly your 2nd battery died an early death.
