Whirring sound when Slowing Down

if hear any abnormal noise, better go to TCM quickly.....

especially for aircon compressor....I spent $1.3K to change the aircon compressor + related parts....

since 2nd year of ownership, can hear soft noise from aircon but ignored till warranty over, noise became louder, then LL change from my own pocket...

I've just changed my bearing seal at Lok Yang due to squeky noise when gear is engaged. Now the sound is gone. 
Highlight to the SA about the whirring noise when slowing down and says that some latio owners experincing that and got the air-con compressor changed. He told me that they will check the air-con compressor and says that they could not find anything wrong.  He suggest that I highlight this problem again in the next servicing. He further added that currently the machine needed to 'suck the air out' is not available at lok yang as it is sent for repairs. Should i make an appoinment for a test drive with the foreman? I have bad experience taking this option as the the foreman tend to downplay the seriousness of the problem by claiming its normal for Latio cars. Experience that in BT and Ubi.

I think air-con replacement takes lot of time. I suggest to go with only this complain. Also try other service centre, than lokyang.

I didn't test drive with the technician. Just complain the problem to SA, sign the form and left. Receive SMS, and collect car. Pleasantly surprise when cashier showed the invoice, all NC(no charge)..

Ender, has the whirring sound in your car been rectified?

If the whirring sound is gone when aircon is switched off, then it's due to the aircon compressor. If the whirring sound is still there, then it's something else like worn out bearings, etc.

Recently I got a loud whirring sound whenever I started the engine and there was also whirring sound when I stepped on the gas. Sent my car to the mechanic yesterday. It was found that bearings had worn out/damaged that caused the whirring sound.

My mechanic also told me there was a Cefiro which had the same problem when the car was in Ipoh. The owner decided to drive straight back to SG (with aircon off). When he reached JB, the bearings jammed and the multilink belt snapped. He was considered lucky to have reached JB and towing the car back to SG was still manageable.

So Ender, you use to drive to Genting and other places in MY, better check.

I got the bearings and multilink belt changed yesterday and now the car is very quiet like before.
Big bearing $20
Small bearing $18
Multilink belt $40
Labour $45
Total damage $123, not too expensive and my mind is at peace because I also chiong MY quite often.

You did your repair at TCM or outside workshop?

Outside workshop, naturally. If done at TCM, I would not be surprised if it cost double or more. Anyway, my 3 year/100k warranty had already lapsed. So won't be going to TCM for repair and get chopped. Some outside mechanics are better and much more experienced than those at TCM, cheaper somemore .

Just sent in the car to TPY for checking on the whirring sound.... lets see what they come back wif...
