Hi all,
Just curious abt your FC on your Latios.... What's the average FC u usually achieve? My latio premium normally gets about 10-11km/L.... But i'm surprised that some in the forum could achieve up to 16km/L..... Any modifications to your latio?
Any suggestions to increase FC is greatly welcomed! And yeah i'm trying to be light-footed as much as possible. Anyway is it true that you should try hitting 2500 RPM until reaching cruising speed? Been exploring various ways to improve FCs, but kinda out of luck on this.
-
PS: any where to repaint an entire boot? and at what cost? I've just got dried up bird poo eating away my wax and paint, and worried that the metal may rust over some time.... =( Any recommendations?

Latio 4AT at 10.2 - 10.5 (max) just sold my ride at 2.5yr recently ...hehe
-
I usually drive below or at 2000RPM. I can reach 15 to 16Km/l.
But 3 weeks ago, done my service at TC and use their EO, and now slightly drop to 13.5 to 14km/l. still monitoring.
Light foot do play a part and I think EO may affect FC too.

My FC varies from 10+ to 14+km/L depending on driving style..
lately been going to work-site via expressway, so getting 14+km/L..
just my say..

Hi, am newbie here. What is EO?
-
EO - Engine Oil
-
On :
1) Caltex 92
2) Superleggara 17" rim
3) 260 kPa front 240 kPa rear
4) Michelin PP2 tyres
5) 80% HW 20% City
6) Change gear around 3000 rpm
7) 4AT
8) Amsoil EO
9) Usually alone or with 1 passenger
10) BC Coil, struct bar, underbraced and ARB. The rest all stock.
Achieved average 15km/l so far

Monitor the following for better mileage:
- tyre pressure (mine is 250 front and back)
- how heavy is your foot (I always aim rpm 2000-2200)
- extra weight (my car boot has nothing except spare tire and a few umbrellas)
Dont think EO will affect mileage. My 06' 2nd hand 4AT now at 75k mileage EO 5W50 average FC is 15km/l. Best is 16km/l. :devil2:
-
Been averaging about 12.75km/L for the last 5 years, 16" rims with 205/55/16 tyres. RPM ranges from 3K to 5k for gear 1 and 2 then back off to about 2.8K till about 80kmh before dropping to 2.2K on the rpm durin cruising on expressway.
-
10.5 average....light footed not sure why i have consistently getting this....
-
14.5KM/L or about 480~530 per tank of top-up. Caltex 92 Ron.
Light & steady footed at 2000rpm CVT engine. About 90% highway.
Had car for 3.5yrs oredi. Tire is Hankook Blackbird V2 195/60/R15.

My ride is already 2.5 years and FC been averaging at 11Km. I think its quite a poor return. :crycry:
-
11 km/l + minus for me
-
stock tyres....
stock everything...
50% hw 50% city
average 14.2km/litre for past 2.5 years and counting...
-
tried clearing some carbon at lim chu kang road few days back. seem to be getting a btr fc this time round.

remember to off a/c when clear carbon, if not shorten lifespan of compressor...

remember to off a/c when clear carbon, if not shorten lifespan of compressor...
thanks for the info. din know need to off the a/c. So if driving at high speed a/c must also keep low?
-

i never hear of having to switch off aircon when clearing carbon. Can pls kindly enlighten on the reason behind compressor lifespan shortening? Thanks

can you help me to understand what do you mean by clear carbon? thanks in advance.
-
clear carbon means to high rev for a while
aircon compressors nowadays are very fragile.
i juz got it replaced n the mech told me this is a common problem, not only latio.
fm wat i read, high rev will put strain on the a/c compressor. so off the compressor by pressing the a/c button before u want to step hard on the gas.
i revved it to 5-6k rpm one day, the next day got funny sound from my compressor. think that was the last straw for my 4.5yrs old compressor...
-
Thanks. Didn't know that. for my previous ride, i just ramp 4 to 5 without switching off the A/C. will take note.
-
Different car manufacturers have their own protection on their aircon system. Not too sure on Nissan cars but for Honda cars, their aircon compressor will cut off when the RPM is over 5000 and this is to prevent the compressor from over-rev...

Which Amsoil EO u using?
the normal ones that cost 12.50 per quart on mo or 15 for normal buy.
-
I'm achieving 12+ to 13+ KM per litre. 80% HW and 20% City. I'm a heavy footed. I think if you travel a constant speed plays a major part of achieving better FC.
-
i'm achieving 14-15 km/l after 60k servicing... before was 12km/l... O.o
-
:crycry:
I cannot get more than 10KM/L..
Very casual driver but mileage already done more than 50K in 2 years time.
...Any idea? Service is done regularly, always checking tyre pressure (around 250), using Caltex 95, EO --> changed by TCM during my last servicing.
My RPM is usually around 2000-2200 and my speed is usually maintained around 90 KMH.
But I drive a lot of short stops... not much long driving except in weekends.
I also spoke to the technician during my last service but he said it is normal...
Wah liao.. 10KML normal meh?? Suey lor... my Toyota Corolla getting better at around around 14-15KML, same style of driving...
:crycry:

I thought it's the so call aircon bypass? When rev to high rpm, in order to ease the load of the engine, it will cut off the aircon. So far, been driving for more than 10 year but never heard off aircon to protect compressor. :confused1: :confused1:
Pardon me if i'm ignorant

If you are using the stock rims, I would say the FC is quite bad. However it all very much depends on your city/highway drive. For many short stops, the speed doesn't even go higher than 60km/hr, hence doesn't even engage into the 4th gear.
In my case, if I have lots of short stops eg during school terms when sending my kid to school, I would have 80% city / 20% highway. My FC is about 11.5 km/litre. Now school holiday, my trip pattern is 50% city / 50% highway, FC is 12.5 km/litre. For long distant trip from west to east, 20% city / 80% highway, 14 km/litre. All the above with 16" rims.
True enough, toyota altis also have better FC. My colleage travels daily from Bedok to Jurong achieved 16 km/litre, on stock condition, 14" rims.

14in is realli ugly leh.. anyone on 17in?

Ya I agree. 1.6 litre car on 14" rims. His is a old model of the altis, but saves on the petrol. Travels more than 60km daily from home to office.
-
Does changing of the spark plugs improve the FC? I've been getting ard 10.5 - 11.5 km/l...I also noticed that the fuel gauge needle seldom goes to the top even after i pumped full tank, and only around 50km the needle drop to 3/4 tank......time to change fuel filter?
-
i am getting 600km per tank on cvt... light foot and stock car
-
i'm only getting 440-460km on a full tank (till the moment where the yellow lights came on). lightfoot, but ride running on a 16" rims. 50% highway, 50% city.
but at times where i travel more often on the highway, (from AMK to TUAS), FC is slightly better..

Mine is a Latio (Sedan, CVT) and I'm getting 14-15km/ltr (Caltex 95) consistently over 3 years. I can hit 100km with full load (5 persons) at 2.2k rpm, otherwise I always stay below 2k rpm at cruise at 90-100km. That seems to give best mileage.
