Title: Please recommend Workshop
Post by: Ender on January 25, 2011, 11:23:55 AM
Today I had my 70K servicing, and referring to my complaint of a KOK! sound when driven over hump from the front, I was advised that the following was damaged and the repair cost is $430.

"Front Suspension Rubber Damper/ Top Mounting"

Does this mean I have to change the only the front suspension(driver side)? or must get the rubber damper and top mounting too?
Can recommend a cheap stockist and workshop to fix the problem?

Hi there is two alternative for you.

First can get the parts from nissan supplier and get it done in JB or with TCM which is expensive.

I did mine at JB with parts bought from Singapore. The front aborber cost me $60+ without GST/pcs that is Japan brand, If original absorber will cost you 200+ without GST/pcs. The rubber stop cost me original 32+ without GST/pcs....Mine no need to change the stopper so save on that. Installation done in JB for RM$50  only....

Best regards
Jaz

Shock Absorber - get from stockist and find your own workshop

rubber and cap mount - Either you get from stockist or do this in autoaid.

Changing all of the above will incur $60 labour so it is best to do together as the dismantling are the same.

I got my stocklist from Mandarin Auto in tagore lane......the number can google and do it in malaysia for RM$50 for two front absorber + rubber stopper. So i guess if like to change in singapore for SGD$60 also iis fine cause of the husle  of going through the causeway.

Maybe he in the wrong mood.  Same like you, i also have the struct bar and they need to lossen for more work space.
I never hear complain from them.  You should highlight your feedback to Eric.  Nowadays my workshop is either autosaver or autoaid.

Autosaver slighlty on the expensive side, with all the package servicing regardless of u need it or not.

Autoaid is more on fix as u need.  Regular oil change is a must and some maintenance recommendations from them.

Yah, that guy got mood one. Previously, he is from TCM at Toa Payoh. His attitude is already known for at that time, but his skills are pretty good though.

i agree, the older mechanic is the one who replace my cooiling coil, very good skills as he is very familiar with our latio, the younger one is more friendly but think skills wise still need to consult the older one at times.

having said tat, i have no problem communicating with either of them, my last servicing was done by the younger mechanic.

i recently change all my shock absorbers as my car just over 3 years, 50km. bought kyb absorbers from yuen thong for abt $420, 2 x front and 2 x back.

change them at autosaver for 150 with normal alignment. during the change, was informed that they will change my mounting bracket if necessary and each piece cost $45 - luckily no replacement required.

total damage $570 but honestly my car still feel about the same haha..

just did my 70k servicing at Autoaid this morning.

Brought my own engine oil and did throttle cleaning on top of the servicing.

Price was reasonable, staff was friendly.

The younger mechanic did everything as my car was the only car there.

Eric's father and the older mechanic were in good mood(perhaps), chit chatted with me while the servicing was done.

Would go back to them again.

what is the damage for 70k servicing at AA?

I spent less than $100 for the servicing plus throttle cleaning as I brought my own engine oil, a discount was given.

not too sure. the last time I did my 90k with them, it cost me only $30++, since I bring my oil, oil filter and air filter.
