Title: water pump
Post by: rocket on March 31, 2011, 10:15:45 PM
For those cars use timing belt, the belt will be replaced every 80-100k, normally water pump will be replaced together to reduce labor cost, because the components need to dismantle are the same.

Latio doesn't use timing belt, how long can water pump last ?anyone replaced water pump so far?

Believe Latio's water pump is driven via the fan belt instead of timing belt.

dont think you need to change water pump that fast. Workshop says it will last 150k and some ws will say wait till it spoilt.

My car is 145k now, i just changed the thermostat and coolant as maintenace rather than water pump.

latio water pump don't give way so easily, renew it when there's sign of water leak,if it really leak,it's only slight slippage.not like last time, coolent will dripped out from the water pump like tap dripping water when it start to leak.but if u wanna change it due to high miledge,by all means(160,000km and about.)i got lobang changing it for less than $450 for parts and labour.(thermostat, water pump and coolent)

Dear brothers, what happens when the thermostat fails.  Recently my friend driving Nissan Dualis to Johor, his car suddenly overheated, he got burnt when he opened the radiator as water a steam sprayed out.  Later he told me the "Relay" needs to be replaced.

Normally just open the bonnet and let it cool down, do not attempt to open the radiator cap, good thing he didn't get scald.  Also not advisable to pour cold water to the radiator unit coz it may crack the radiator system.

if it overheat ,do not open the cap or pour water into the radiator cause this will damaged ur engine.
