Title: 2k rpm when first start engine in morning.
Post by: ironkiat on June 24, 2011, 04:21:16 AM
Hi all experts, is it normal that when first thing you all start engine in the morning, the RPM goes up to 1.5 to 2k then slowly dropping down to 1k when engine almost warmed up?

Newbie in this, just bought a 2nd hand latio not long ago. any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks bros for the replies, so by right I shouldn't go off before the blue light goes off right...

Have you all heard of not turning on the aircon for the first few minutes when you drive off? or turn it on with the window open or something.
This is due to some harmful gas coming out from the aircon compressor builds up after a long while when the car is off overnight.

I realize when I turn on the aircon in the morning, theres always a weird chemically smell coming out from it...not sure if its the ions or what though.

 :confused1:

I dont wait till the blue light goes off, max 30secs warm up. Will drive slowly till the car warm up, usually it will goes off when I reach the exit of the MSCP.

For air con, usually I will wait for the blue light off then turn on the compressor, windows down and blower on to get rid of the smell.

Check your air filter, when is the last time you changed your air con filter?

should be changing the aircon filter soon next servicing...compressor got problem, sian, on and off will suddenly cut off aircon...especially at hot weather!
