Title: Advice on 5 y/o latio
Post by: lanxx on July 17, 2011, 01:51:42 PM
Hi all, need some serious advice

On a budget, changing from a conti van to car now
I am also looking at a 5 y/o latio now.
but it looks well taken care of, but with a mileage of 120k
May I know what are the major repairs/replacement upcoming for a vehicle of such mileage/age

What are you thots on it so far?
The one I am looking is a Latio premium, CVT, sedan version.
According to dealer, it was previously maintained by TCM all this time. (can we verify this)?

or shld I fork out more monthly and get a 2-3 y/o non-premium latio?

(btw, I like the features in the premium, but hate the wood color plastic interior, thinking of asking
sticker shops to stick over them)

Try ask tcm to verify the record on their computer.

Aircond compressor, shock absorber, power window module should be due for change. most likely the aircond compressor was change atleast once by previous owner.  Don't think our stock aircond can last that long.

1 owner?
at 120k means 40k servicing (change brake fluid, radiator...etc) is it done?
Can cost a bit more than normal servicing
or you can drive to a trusted mech. to inspect before sign on the dotted line.
steering coupling, brake pad, spark plug...things to look out
think can inspect from below (jack up) will be best

happy hunting

If the car had been serviced by TCM all the while, yes you can verify by calling TCM and give them the vehicle no.

cvt is a added component to the engine, as the age the more components u have incurrs the risk of failure

to me CVT is not really important besides an old car with smooth gear shift may not really. matter

cost consideration shld be key

120k mileage is not low either

U can change the wood trim panel to the type of silver color which basic model is using much much prettier & most impt not an eyesore
