Dear bros
I have an issue which i need your help.
Recently I am having problem starting my car. This problem would occur randomly (maybe once in five tries). Basically I tried cranking the engine but there is no cranking sound and all the red icons on the speedometer lights up. I have tried manually inserting the spare key from the ikey into the socket and cranking the engine but to no avail. I have checked and my gearbox is correctly inserted in the P position.
I suspect that this is an immobiliser issue but I'm no car expert so I would like to seek the advice of the bros here. The battery has just been changed two months ago so I would rule out the battery being flat. Short of going back to Tan Chong, is there any other solutions?

check the connector behind the rer view mirror...anything loose? Also did u install any electronics product near the rear view mirror eg. Car video camera which runs survelliance even when engne off?
Or it could be due to starter motor since cranking no sound....

Thanks bro for your suggestions I will take a look at both and report back my findings.

Bro where is the connector beside the rear view mirror? Nope car is stock with no mods and no electrical products installed.

it is at the back of the rear view mirror.......try using the separate mechanical key...not the one inside the remote....

hi all
i managed to solve the prob.
Drove the car back to tan chong bukit timah and the technician told me that when i shifted my gearbox to "P", the immobiliser doesnt recognise that the gearbox is in "P", which is why the car cannot be started. This happens due to wear and tear (not covered by warranty) as the cable linking the various modes of the gear box (eg: PRND12) may suffer some free play in movement after using the car for some time. This results in the sensor in the car not correctly recognising that the car is in "P" position, even though the gearbox has been shifted to "P".
The solution: if you have problem cranking up the engine, try to push up the gear level (yes it is in P position, but u can still try to "push" it up further) with your left hand while your right hand is cranking up the engine. It works =)

Is the solution a permanent fix? no replacement part require?
