Title: Engine Oil
Post by: goon65 on May 27, 2013, 02:30:15 PM
My NPMP has ended and I have decided not to go back TC for servicing.

Will be finding a workshop for servicing and would like to find out which EO is suitable for Latio Sports.

Thanks in advance for your help

i think as long as the ratings is acceptable for your engine oil, then any brand also can use.

for me, using 0W40 since cars pass 3 years, oil used include fastflo, amsoil, shogun, ravenol, ows, astroboy.
difference is minimal.

But why use 0W40 and not 5w30?

And any recommendations for workshops?

the difference is depending on ur comfortability, its only thin vs thick oil, search the forum there is a tab on our friendly neighbourhood mechanic!

Anyone using Amsoil 5W30?

Yes, 30 gives better FC and you will feel your ride is more responsive. People say 40 will protect your engine better. I'm still using 30 on my 3.5 yrs old and I have used x-rev, rev-1, valvoline, amsoil, redline, castrol titanium fyr.

Previously using Amsoil, but now difficult to get, so switch to Redline. Change EO every 5K.

0W30 or 5W30 is the same, the first digit is meant for cold start, not really applicable in our country anyway.

Amsoil is good for 10K .

Been usin Torco for è past yrs, got it from 1 of è forumer here by è name of Josh. Engine feels light & responsive when è oil heats up, 5w30 gives better f.c as compared to w40/50

from 10k to 60k I am using amsoil 5w30.  From 60k to 210k I am using astroboy 5w40.

Now from >210k, I am using Atom, better FC but power not as good as astroboy..... will stick back to astroboy 5w40 in next oil change.

Tried a few brand, stick with 0w40 shogun ever since, rest of oil will "thin down" at 7k plus mileage, shogun oil maintains consistency throughout

Theoritically is 3.3L and 3Q is only about 2.9L.

3.1 litre excluding oil filter

if you are very particular then you have to ask the mechanic to use apparatus to measure before pouring in the 4th quart  ;)

You can top up EO yourself if you find EO running on the low side.
