Title: Changing engine oil

pardon me for asking abt engine oil, there are already many posts on engine oil.
but i cant seem to find my answer in those posts.

1. My latio sedan basic is due for 5K servicing. should i change my engine oil?
change to semi-syn or fully synthetic oil?

2. which engine oil type is suitable for latio sedan basic? I read the specs in
the car manual, it specifies something like gr1, gr3 and not 0w30 or 5w40.

3. how many litre of engine oil to change?

If according to fellow Lations that semi or full synthetic oil improve in FC, I do not see the mere investment will go to waste, secondly it will aid to protect our engine better. Just that need to calculate the ROI worth the invest or not. ;D

thx1138 has a point that 5k mineral oil is free. why spend money to get our own engine oil.

5K service difinitely must go.

i agreed with thx1138 but i also heard that changing the engine oil to synthetic will boost the FC
and makes the ride smoother.

i am going for the 5k servicing for sure. my consideration now is whether
to change engine oil...

My proposal is to buy cheapo semi-syn oil for your 5K if you want to protect your engine which I may consider to do after I calculate my ROI. ;D

1) You can bring your own engine oil at 5k.. but no point changing to syn oil at 5k. Advise to stick to mineral as TC will change your engine oil to syn at 10k. I have called TC about bringing of own engine oil for 10k. You don't have to pay anything as 10k servicing is free.

thanks silvan82 for clearing some of my doubts.
tats mean at 10k, TC will change my engine oil to syn for free.

Like what I have stated earlier, if what is claimed that using synthetic oil has a better FC as compared to mineral oil, I think is a good investment beside it help to protect our engine better. :smile:
