Title: Air Con not cold tonite
Post by: Ender on April 03, 2008, 09:45:03 PM
It rained heavily jus now about 7pm. After the rained, I drive off with air set to 25. the air blowing out is warm, then proceed to set to 22, fan get louder, but the air is blowing is still warm. Finally set to 18, the fan was blower very loud, but still warm air blowing out. Finally wind down the window, the the air outside is much cooler.

Wonder is there anything wrong with my air con? Should i make a appt wit TC to check out the aircon?

i always set temp to 25, still very cold tonite.  make sure compressor is on and you are not taking outside air.. should use the air circulation inside button

just thinking aloud,

raining = poor visibility+ slippery = heavier traffic = slower speed. Heat trapped inside bonnet cant get flushed out due to start stop situations, heats up the aircon piping and voila, warmer air!

heh, dun flame me, not proven, jus thinking abit  :bleh:

I experience this too this evening and also same experience with my previous car when the weather is cold and raining.

Think it is some kind of AI (artificial intelligence) thingy at work.  Something like when the car "sense" that the temperature is cold, it trys to compensate.  Had also experience the reverse in hot days when you can feel air-con very cold, even if you are caught in traffic jam.  Something like that la.  (Don't frame me hor.)

for my car, its permanently on cold unless i open the windows while driving. I disconnected the hot water supply, hence, whether its set at 18 or 32, the aircon blows out same temp  :devil2:

hi!

i think there is a thermostat somewhere. think it will compare the temperature inside the cabin and outside and somehow cut off if outside is colder than inside. my car oso got such problem and always happen only during rainning days or outside is cold.

if u guys still feel it warm, try reduce the temp. mine always at 25C if this situation happen, i just lower it to 24C or lower then got cold air out liao lor ;)

I did the same thing.  Usually set at 24, but lower it to 23 last night and could feel the cold air liao.

Look like most of the bros/sis here also face this problem. Me too had this problem especially in the evening. Need to turn the fan speed to 2 and temp to 23. Dun know if TCM can solve this problem?

I have a theory on my own now. If our body has adjusted to colder temperature outside such as a heavy rain in the evenining (Say 21 degrees). So any air that is blowing out at above 21 degree is felt as warmer.

Just a thought, no proof or whatsoever.

Woh so many people have this problem, mine seem ok 24 degree and fan 1 bar . Feel cold, but that is when I drive at 8 pm yesterday nite.

I really touch the air vents not only my side, even the passenger side, it warm.

Hi Bro, How to set "CLEAN" and "ION"?  Mine shows either "CLEAN" or "ION" by itself.  Which button to select "CLEAN" or "ION"?  Thanks.

i think it automatically switches mode from CLean to Ion...

read it somewhere on the manual...

but wat is the diff bet clean and ion ?
Title: Re: Air Con not cold tonite
Post by: carolyn on April 10, 2008, 12:28:29 AM
but wat is the diff bet clean and ion ?

Ionizer is for purifying the air ma.. When they detect impurities in the air, the ionizer will turn on by itself rite.. then they will clean the air by charging dust and smoke particles into positive or negative ions so that they can stick to a charged surface.. Then can get rid of them..

Larger impure particles will totally fall out of the air when two smaller impure particles of different charges clump together..

So I think since it does ionic charging.. so heat is required to gain/lose the electrons to charge the particles ma.. So I think air con becomes hotter during ion mode?  :confused1:

But I think it is attached to our air con de.. so if on the air con.. it will be auto detecting if there's impurities.. So I dun think there's a way to turn it off w/o turning the air con off lei..

But I realise the ionizer often comes on only when I wind down window or open the door when the air con is turned on or when I fart in the car..  :bleh:

This 1 onli my theory hor.... I may be wrong...  :zipped:

Don't overwork the ionizer.  Otherwise it sure breakdown.  Then you got to tell TCM that it is spoil because you fxxx.

hahah yeah yesireeeee!!! its because most of the warm air is coming from ur engine, hot engine = hot air coming in even on a very cold day ....good explaination ken

Yesterday morning when I drive my way to Tan Chong Ubi Service Center from Woodlands, I noticed that the air-cond is blowing hot air and cold air in turns. Meaning hot air, then cold air, then hot air again, cold air again. Damn I think my air-cond spoil or something. So in the service sheet I report to them about this issue. The guy who always do my car when I send for service said the reason is because I did not turn on the circulation button (the button which looks like a u-turn sign) when air-cond is on.

So after I collected my car, the air-cond all ok. I normally set to 25 but when its too cold, I'll set to 26, all fan 1. The problem still there when I'm on my way back home from Bedok. Sigh...
This morning, I call the service guy. He said they'll do further testing to see what is wrong.

Any bros/sis got this problem?

My latio got problem,  with hizzling sound below glove compartment...the air is cold but when I increase the blower for passengers behind, the air flow wont increase & only can heard louder noise from the centre (behind radio).

And I noticed my setting is 24oC, but the air coming out felt like 18oC.  :confused1:
Anyone experienced this way?  compressor malfunction? or blower malfunction?

compressor so easily spoilt?  But it stil working today. :confused1: Probably the previous day I drove longer distance and the compressor showed signs of going to break down soon.  Am I correct? So tomorrow booking, got to get it change and hopefully they have stock for compressor. :D

Replaced evaporator and the sensor. ;D

O! Hot Hot Day...yeah now my aircon set at 24oC starts to cool fast!  Didnt notice it only after they change the evaporator (convert Liquid to gas) which was cloaked.  For those who took longer time to cool, can start to take note.

Pic uploaded see my previous reply where the tell tail sign was the icing pipe in the bonet.

May be your aircon "Mode" is blowing the air to somewhere else? Blowing to legs , not to the body?
