I signed up with Tenet Insurance after my AIG expire(was quoted about $1500++ from AIG) in March, was quoted $1096 w/o adding my wife name. After adding comes up to about $1200.

There are some bros at NEC forum who are in the insurance industry.  No harm checking with them for comparison.  Think some of them offers further discount (-- not sure is it from their own commission).

AIG also quoted me $1405. NTUC quoted me $1138 can go back to Tan Cheong for repair. $900 plus cannot go back Tan Cheong for repair

It depends on your insurance agent also, try to use a regular 1 (where u bot ur PA, Life insurance, etc), then u can get better deals. I normally have further discount (eg. NTUC Vouchers or cash rebate) fr my agent "own commision", after deducting all the discounts given fr the insurance co. Of cos ur agent got to giv willingly, cant force them oso as they need to earn oso..

How come you guys can get so low quotation?  :confused1:

Same coverage, AIG quoted me $1576, NTUC Drivo Premium $1507, 10% NCD,

Does number of years of driving experience play a part?

For my case, I just became non P-plater two months back. P-plate still on my windscreen.  ;)

Any bro here can give comment?

for my case, AXA quote me for renewal with NCD 20% and using thier premium workshop and excess damage of $250,  the premium is $1148.  I am still asking my colleague to source me a better ones.  Every year renewal always higher than what i pay for previous yr.... the more you drive, the more expensive is the premium....

Hi Bro, don't understand your post.  Your mum has no license yet you mentioned more than 10 years of driving experience.  Thought one of the deciding factors of the premium is based on the number of years of driving experience of the owner?

Possible.  Employ ahmah can already.  But in that case, don't know how they compute premium.

I just switched from AIG (quote me $1600++ with 10% NCD, $500 excess, any workshop) to DriveShield ($1260+ with 10% NCD, $500 excess, any workshop) + free $150 petrol voucher, so actual cost only around $1110+. DriveShield is from DBS but it actually ties up with MSIG.

Also engaged someone that helped me source for multiple insurances to find the 'best' deal, but didn't find any that can beat DriveShield which I found on my own.

Get an instant online quote here if you are interested.

Hi all,

Can try India Insurance. Quite cheap quotation.
Need to ask them details of the coverage for the insurance.

I got my insurance from them, about $300(after 50% NCD) cheaper as compare to NTUC and AIG

Besides premium, also need to consider other factors.  For instance, NTUC still need Idac check, can be more troublesome.  This is unlike the recent announcement in the papers where some insurance companies will do away with Idac starting from May and will do all the necessary paper work.  (Touch wood), if kenna, just need to call the insurance company and it will do all the necessary paper work, including maybe give you a replacement car for use in the meantime.  Some of the companies mentioned by some bro/sis are not so well known.  Not sure any problem when need to make claims.

I've just renewed my motor insurance @ AA under the insurance company called Liberty with free AA membership for 1 year!

I saved a good $250 by switching from AIG to Liberty, which offers the same if not better coverage than AIG at a much lower cost. The way I see AIG is that they are too complacent, all they do is just to send renewal letters and expect customers to automaticly renew their insurance with them.

Time to wake up AIG, customers have choices.

mine also almost due. AIG is really slow. Last August I had an minor accident in the carpark. Filed 3rd party claim till now not settled....

Haiz.... have to call them tomorrow and see how. If not i'll call NTUC to ask.

It is 3rd, 6th and 9th year.  Anyway, LTA will inform you when you need to renew road tax time.  (If you ever drive a > 10 year old car, inspection will be more regular.)

My AIG due in July... but quoted $1891 instead of $1425 last July.. Probably due to the minor accident in Apr this year..

Should I continue with AIG? But the claim from the other insurance company not settled yet.. If I switch insurance now, will I be at a disadvantage??  :confused1:

Hi lations,

Currently on my 2nd year with AIG, which will be due in Oct. When I received my ride I was lucky to take over my dad's NCD of 50%, and was charged abt $1050 after discount. On my second year I was charged $1150 after 50% NCD + 5% loyalty plan.

My fren whom used to be SC at TCM Auto (Tamp) mentioned that motor insurance premiums most expensive for 1st time drivers & drivers below age of 29. After hitting the big 30, premiums will start to go down. But nowadays, motor ins premiums increasing due to losses from over-claiming.  :nonod:

Best advice is to do homework earlier & get the best deal before due date  ;)

NTUC is bad, I am still waiting for my original front screen  :nonod:

Compulsary inspection is required from the 3rd year omwards and once every 2 yrs up to 10 yrs (ie. 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th year).

After 10 yrs, annual inspection is required.

The LTA system probably screwed up.  :bleh:

By right, you have to send your car for inspection by Mar 2008 (3rd yr) and you can renew road tax and insurance only upon getting a pass.

Better for you. Save $60+ in inspection fees.

Your premiums will be equally high.

You are in the high risk age group which motor insurers shun.

Hi Bro,

Even if you change insurer, you also wont have your NCD. But AIG is one of the highest insurer, so maybe you can find a cheaper one, maybe the premium can still be the same.

Ok...But I still dun get it....If I change insurer yet my premium still the same, why change? Another thing is that AIG highest insurer so isn't it better for mi to continue? Tanks again.....
