Title: servicing at TCM UBI took me 8 hrs - reasonable?
Post by: foofam77 on May 04, 2008, 09:07:10 AM
wasa at UBI TCM over the last Saturday.

checked in the car at 830am and only managed to get the car back at 4.30pm.

Services included:

- basic NPMP 2nd free servicing and car washing
- changing of steering coupling
- checking of wheel suspension
- changing of A/C filter, and other related A/C components (as i complained A/C not cold)
- checking for dashvboard rattling sound.

Service advisor initially told me the car can be ready by 2.30pm (usual 4hrs servicing and 2 hrs more for additonal complains)

I have reflected this long wait inside the TCM feedback form and will be sending out soon.

Considering the services rendered above, is a 8-hrs wait reasonable?

thanks

My good friend also send in his car yesterday at UBI for his 10,000km servicing, he also send in around 0830hrs, has his car top up since my friend feed-back not cold, plus changed new suspension coz behind kena the hook and the exhaust pipe. Before noon, called my friend to collect car, I know coz I fetch him there and also to tighten my licence plate which is loose.

What there to elaborate? I really dun understand your question thou what different type, my friend just let me see the sevice report as it stated changed rear suspension due to my friend feedback too soft as it always kena the exhaust.

I guess what he means is that your friend complained too soft, and TC changed for him? Did TC change back a same one? or stiffer springs?

Because all Latios have very soft rear suspension, like that can we all change?

since got precedent liao.  :devil2:

Yep, but not complain or bang table type, just feedback coz my friend told me his exhaust kena quite jia lat.

Anyway, the service report stated changed, so I really cannot answer you guys whether did TC change brand new, just serviced or tuned the suspension, it not my ride.

Yep, but not complain or bang table type, just feedback coz my friend told me his exhaust kena quite jia lat.

of those tat I know of..... most are actually own negligent.... as in not sure of own car.... so kena.....

most of those cases are at old estate open air carpark, or at area where the kerb are higher....

actually.... I jack up my car to check the exhuast b4. (cos kena too many time with loud bang!!).... quite interesting to find tat the inner hinge tat hold the exhaust are actually movable....as in there is a tolerance to allow the exhuast to move to prevent damage....

u guys can go try shake ur exhuast when its cool & try it out :D

Just ,my 0.5cent  opinion.... If you book a slot for servicing through internet.. YES.. It's unreasonable....

If you just drove in & complain.. 8hrs is normal as they have every excuses to said that they are entertaining those who book 1st....

:)

Wow.. so the key word is kana the exhaust.. haha.. Next time i go TCM sure use this reason.. since  my exhaust also kana a few time but didn't mention to them.

Last time i went to complain about my suspension is too soft & physically they did a measuring test.. yup.. my car was 1 inch lower than new car.. (No heavy stuffs in car hor... )

After that they did a test on my front & rear suspensions.. The advisor said "If the test result showed your suspension test is below 50%, I confirm change..."
End result shows front 60%...... rear 70%......   :(

Definitely I do not understand, I merely replied to the TS that despite all the things done for my friend  10K servicing, it only takes less than 4 hrs, and you came to ask me is it warranty claim, new suspension etc.

Again, I stressed that he only feedback not complain, there a difference in action and meaning.  ::)

I had my stock JVC ICE changed when I feedbacked that after some vibration, the radio off, and I have to on/off again plus my wiper changed when I told them it gave me a jerking effect during my first 1000km servicing

Anyway, I find here alot of complain kings and queens around here, no offense just my feeling, my apology for those who get offended. My message is, if your car has genuine and valid failures, I believe TC will change for you to avoid any reputation smeared. Just my 2 cts comment.

mine also jialat.... those kerb tat will not kena last time.... all kena bang loud loud recently.... wonder how come the suspension give way so easily..... something to do with the load limit of 305kg for Latio?

Anyway, just endure, already reached 60% to failure, just interested to know the lifespan thou.  Go do hanky panky in your car and sure you can change your suspension early.  :D

and you came to ask me is it warranty claim, new suspension etc.

u mention change new suspension...tats why im checking with you is it due to warranty claim or....

fyi, if u do not know.... no AD in the right frame of mind will go change a suspension for nuthing (i believe u already know tat they will change watever is not "right:)..... & in the event tat AD change for u.... its warranty claim..... go read the service report again. its would have the abbreviation of warranty claim stated in that paper

this is the reason why Im asking if its a warranty claim or changing to another type of stiffer suspension (self request) as said in the 4th post of this thread.

if its a warranty claim.... like the test tat bro vincent has mention to prove the validity.... then its more clear cut....

for my question to ya... Im only inquiring if its a warranty claim nia..... forget abt the definition of feedback or complain.... to me no difference.... its just a means of getting information relayed to the related personnel..... so long its done in an acceptable manners.... both are same

to create a fuss by banging table bla bla bla is a meaningless though....

If you follow carefully, I already mentioned it not my ride, and it not me who define is it warranty claim or not since you can see, it just 10,000km servicing, the ride is definitely under warranty just in case you are unaware.

For your second paragraph again, do not understand how many times must I repeat, it NOT my ride, so how on earth are you expect me to read the service report again?

We merely tell TC that the exhuast pipe kena as per my friend feedback, pls read again, we did not request for change or anything.

Since you insist feedback and complain is the same, it up to you, different education level will interpret differently.

I will end my reply to you with this thread as my concern and intent of this initial reply to TS that we do not encountered a waiting time of more than 4hrs for servicing, I do not want to further debate on the changing of suspension. Thanks.

Hi Guys,
Sorry for any uncomfortableness caused.

O.K, back to the suspension topic if I not considered OT.

I called up my friend just now, confirmed TC changed a brand new rear suspension for him. Now the ride is higher plus firmer as he can feel when he run over the humps. As I have mentioned earlier, as long is a genuine or valid failures, TC will change.

Can I ask warranty period from TCM is how long? Mine is 2nd hand and ain't sure about these tho. Wanted to go servicing my car real soon as it reaches 36k (I had to go for 40K servicing). If it is still under warranty, how will TCM know (by computer checking?)

Need some guidance. If not I shall go to other places like Comfort or Autosaver for servicing...

Other issue u might wan to check 1st is whether the previous owner has done his servicing since day 1 at TC (5K, 10K,20K, 30K).. and of cos wat mods he has done on the car. If he has all the while did his servicing outside and has mods lots of things, then u got to b careful when u go to TC (eg. mods tt might void ur warranty). Of cos if he has done his servicing all the while at TC, mayb u can go TC 1st for ur 40K service (for peace of mine as it is a major servicing)... later u can start searching outside..

I guess non mod because the car mileage is only 32k after 3 years. Uncle driven it before. I shall have the peace of mind by heading to TCM for servicing first before going to else where. Till now I do not know shall I opt for their engine oil or I should buy my own and request them to do for me (I had no idea what will be the price like.) Where can I buy Mobil Engine Oil? Is it recommended for our Latio Sedan? Plus, whats the cost normally for the Engine Oil?

Just to add on, recently I just changed the battery. Is it consider void of warranty?

Do a search on this forum, topic has been discuss b4, some even has argument with TC on the warranty when using non-TC in house oil :) .. u prob can save mayb $20 - 40 by bringing ur own oil.. if u intend to use TC in-house oil, try to use the Fastflo oil, dont go for the Shogun cos I and few members here had bad experience with it.. :)

No la, change battery wont void warranty, eg. change rims, tyres, batteries, and external accessories..

U can find lots of info here on all our Latio issues/matters.. read slowly hor.. njoy ur ride..

Yup, been reading about Engine Oil but there are too many of them ard... I had no idea which / where to get.  :crycry: Was looking at Mobil and Amsoil.

May I ask that is it better to flush my Engine Refresh since the mileage is 40k at TC?

If I were to do outside, does Autosaver do Engine Refresh as well? Beside, which E.O. is autosaver using? (A lot of variety to choose from?)

Haizz
That's why i dont like to service @ TCM, no time, waste time to wait.
Got to take annual leave to service, not worth at all.
And, it is expensive for 15k to 20k service, pkg B, cost S$350+ -
