Title: FC drop after putting sub in boot
Post by: joyrob on May 21, 2008, 10:10:06 PM
hi all... i got this problem.. i used to have FC of around 14.5 to 15km/litre  for my sedan.. but after i install a 12 inch sub (about 11kg) in the boot, the FC drop to about 13plus to 14 at most.. but then how come an 11kg item can cause the FC to drop so much ? or is it not correct to place heavy items in the boot ?

doesn't make sense.. even when i fetch my wife and kid last time without the sub, the FC dun drop as much.. very strange....

agree with stephen...damn good liao.....

sorry, i know its not helping you by saying that, and i honestly dunno whats causing your higher petrol consumption. I got a rather heavy sub myself and twice so far, i can clock 13.5km/l usually its about 10+km/l

BTW, any one of you guys here getting low fc even when being light footed? <2k rpm? Cos i kinda notice my fc actually gets better if i rev it.

Other than just that, did you put anything on your car? Driving manner same? Petrol? Not servicing yet? Just wondering because after servicing my FC did drop  :out:

Got ppl say before the Latio engine is more FC between the 2~3k rpm range.. if drive below 2 FC will become bad..

perhaps u should give it a try =D

I'm light footed... <2k rpm 99% of the time. Used to get quite good fc... about 14+km/l even after I changed my rims to 17". But now... sigh...  :crycry: about 12km/l. Not too sure what happened.  :confused1:

Oh... is that for cvt or 4AT?

Oh... is that for cvt or 4AT?

some dude went to TCM, & the service manager did a trial & inform tat its due to CVT running on low gear...tats why must rev.

i tends to agree & disagree.... as CVT does not run on gear but ratio...... so even rev should be ok.

my fc recently drop to 11 from 13+..... other than rear exhuat kena jialat jialat few time recently.... i also notice tat it start to drop drastically @ 6K after oil change...... I tends to think it has something to do with the fastflo oil tat was used @ my last servicing......

i done servicing not long ago.. anyway i still monitoring. my driving habit dun change much. i rev to about 2.3k rpm for the first few gears, then cruising speed is 2 to 2.1k at around 90 to 100kmh..

15inch GR80 185/65 , with stock rims

after i chg to Mobil1 fully synthetic oil @ KL, my FC is abt 13.5km/litre (this tank, i used it from KL to jb 2ndlink). my record for the FC was 17km/l with mineral oil for my 1k, 5k and 11k servicing with TCM. the weeks b4 i service my 17km, my FC dropped to 11.x km/litre.

i believe, if i would change my tyres to better one e.g. GR80 with stock rim of coz, then my FC might improve too?

regards.

Carmodz is using 5Zigen rims(pretty light, think around 7.2kg). Using HanKook S1 Evo tyres.

PS: Ken, I hope you don't mind about the "free advertise info" of your rims and tyres!  :D

I have read and understand what the writer going to tell us, he saying in order to have a better FC (fuel comsumption), need to accelerate above 2500rpm.

So more or high FC meaning bad or poor FC, this is the question I posted to clarify with xuan511 here. Pls read again the statement I highlite in red.

Better talk something about FC before I'm flagged for  :Offtopic:

Hmmmm... I've been wondering... does a failing battery contribute to increasing FC?  :confused1:

Mi Panny straight to Canny... along the way also became a bessie.... haha...

I just changed mine to MF too... I thought my poor FC was due to the battery... will monitor now that my battery just changed... (but doesn't look to be the issue)...

I missed out out. I was Nikky before going to Fuky then lovely Canny. Great Cammy.!  :D :D Bessie!

I tot MF = Mu ...Fu... :bleh: Think you must monitor closely... Mine suddenly ok.. now 150km at 1/4 tank.. Not as bad koz previously 174 at half tank because I tried the 2.5rpm method.   :crycry:

it cannot be weight issue.  it could be the current required by the sub is high.  so the engine needs to work a bit harder to generate more power for the sub, which causes the high fc.  changing battery may not solve the problem also... can try turn off the sub for one 1 tank to see how.  my 2 cents only.

I don't post much in CS... my nick is jaix_sg or something i think... can't really remember... haven't posted in long time...  :bleh: oh ya, that was the reason why you were so 'eye-catching'... moving from nikky to fuky... i remembered thinking "wah... this guy rich siah"... hahaha  :D But I did missed out your Canny stage...

MF = maintainence free lah. Wah... 150km at 1/4 quarter is very very good! Mi now trying the 2.5rpm method... but seems like it's a little fast for me after being so light footed... now I'm barely 70km at 1/4 tank.  :crying:

what rongshu suggested makes sense to me. maybe TS can try try then let us know?

I dun wan drive too fast so I am below 2.5rpm. Later will pump petrol in case of heart attack increase on petrol  :crying: :crying: :crying:

I'm not rich, dey. I buy and sell and sell. That's why I only use 2 lens now and save a lot of $ by not buying non stop range of lens.

Something strange... my first quarter I only did about 70km... I guess it's because I was using the >2.5krpm... after the 1st quarter just gave up and drive my normal slow-mo way (<2.0krpm). Just now, I noticed that I hit about 240+ at half tank mark! Maybe the battery does contribute afterall... anyway... I will continue to monitor.

2 lens? Hmmmm... lemme guess... 17-40 L + 70-200 L + 1Ds-Mark III?   :w00t:

Woo... I can't rem for mine. Now I pump before it reaches half.. I pump it when I drove ard... (I cant rem...) Now it seem good for me now because I actually drive a lil faster above 2K and it seem ok.. weird.. mine 4AT, not CVT (so sad!)

canon- 5D with macro lens and 24-70 L. I'm actually aiming 1Ds Mk3 (future usage)

150km for 1/4 is gd FC leh.

actually, sometimes 2500rpm to drive at 80kmh to 100kmh, max hit 110kmh
due to this cvt latio, pick up is strengthless, so, if wanna to ride faster, got to be heavier footed :( that's why the FC drop :( , cannot tahan the slow at start.... !!!

Fainlly the Latio forum is up!!! I feel so lost...

Anyway, I started slow before I pick up. Somehow, it seem to be better.. But after switching E.O. of w20 and to Shell 95, my FC drop from 14km/l to 13km/l.  :confused1: I should try back Esso 95 or 98 to get better mileage.
