Title: i-key
Post by: jaydos on June 16, 2008, 06:28:58 PM
I just lost my Latio i-key yesterday at East Coast Park while playing soccer.  :crycry:

Now driving with the other duplicate normal key. :( :(

TCM charges about $200 to make another i-key.

Anyone knows a cheaper source to make the i-key?  :confused1:

I think they only need few min to do it (if they have the ready hardware avail - the key which without the codes stored)

But, they will tell customer it would take few days to do it! Reason: can sell higher price lah if let customer wait for few more days...!

Hi Folks,

It's safe, very safe ,I have done it with them before...they are licence locksmith, very reliable.

They will plug in their handheld computer in to the OBDII Port to program the New ikey

and will duplicate the spare key too.

How I know it's safe? the car is still with me after 3 years, haven't lost it yet.

Cheers

With computer, as long as you know how to decode it, it's always crackable!!!
How much will that cost? TCM charges $200?

Hi Silver,

This was about 3 years ago...it cost me a arm and a leg......i paid $250

It would probably cost less now as our latio is getting common.

I understand TCM is only charging $170 .....any clue?

Cheers

Dear all bros, my $156 is only for the spare key. It is not the intelligent key..  :crycry:

Should have ask how much more for the i-key. if really still around $200, would have gone for it.

The best is, i requested the spare key on Tuesday, was told to wait for 1-2 weeks, but yesterday received a call saying the key is ready. After only 1 day... They say Nissan Japan responded immediately with the code for the key.  ::)

that's for spare key ah? i tot is ikey coz this thread is talking abt i-key. haha
sorry for misunderstanding.

if $156 for spare key, that is ex lah. since u already got 2 keys when you bot the car. i.e. 1 ikey, 2 spare keys (because 1 key is in the ikey itself!)

shld go for ikey, best man. coz ikey come with backup 'key' aso.

You need to call them and give them your key quote (the number tag that comes with your key).

Call Toa Payoh service center, they have the stock for the key.  Actually the lead time depends on when they receive the key code from Japan.
I ordered mine when I went for 1k servicing.  They receive the key code before finished servicing, so they can program the new ikey immediately.

My SE quoted me $200 when I asked for an additional i-key before I took delivery of my car.

The price seems to vary.

hi detach8, u may refer to the thread "Knowledge Sharing: How to Change your I-key Battery" by NSman on how to replace the batt   . Just need to force it open by small "-" screw driver. Tried b4, and bought the batt at less than $2 but yet to replace as the old batt still can be use.
