Hi everyone, I just wanna share my experiences with all of you:
1) Compare to my other cars I owned, I find Latio ride a lot steadier and firmer on the road. In fact, I find it very "european" in ride. ::)
2) Mileage; I have lots of start and stop I get 11.4 to 11.9 km per litre, no differece from my previous car which is a hot seller in S'pore (sorry can't name for resaons you know)
3) Seat comfort I must confess first class, very cushy feel and I like the soft suspension. I drove my friend's "famous" hatchback, though it was very fuel economical, it was very, very bumpy and and had lots of vibrations when cruising.
4) I am glad I bought this car, with the keyless entry, it is bonus to me. Sometimes I carry things don't need to take out key from pocket just press the button and open sesame. ;D
5) I find myself sitting in a higher perspective that most saloon I owned previously, not sure good or bad.
6) I was once skeptical and was very brand conscious........This experience makes me realised that you need to do a very thorough test before buying.
7) And yes, thanks to my very patient male SE, I test drove a total of 3 times and requested longer routes to make judgement. Will buy him lunch one day.
8) This is not an advert but just my personal experience, please do not get me wrong, have a nice day.

heh, outstanding! Glad ur enjoying your Latio bro! Anyway, welcome to T.L.C
-
Overall, Latio is good and got POWER in highway.
Only pickup is slow nia.
-
Actually pick up not slow if you step harder, but please don't complain if the FC goes below 11km/l.
-
Sharing the same feeling like u. ;D
Been driving Latio for 2 yrs plus & more nothing much to complain :D
Only minus side is unable to cornering & beat the the right green flashing arrow at junction fast.... :glare: always got that kind of being almost " thrown out of the car" & "car almost turn turtle" feeling when turning fast.
:glare: This is probably due to our high C.G design for more space :nonod:
-
Owned a turbo charged eurovan for more than 3 years and got my Latio for 2 weeks. Loving every moment of driving Latio, but I missed the high torque engine, fc was 19km/l. ;D Need to be patient with Latio's acceleration, fc is 14km/l.

I agree with you and plus cornering at high speed "buey zhai" :D

Yes, I really enjoyed the freedom of the keyless function.
I have this same feeling with you during hard cornering until I assembled my strut bars recently, feel better in control. :D
-
I agreed. Strut Bars are the way to go for stable ride. I feel extremely safe and stable after installing. but it cost a bomb and I have only installed partially T_T
-
Hey guyz, I just got my latio like 2 days ago. I'm loving every minute of it too. I used to drive a Renault Kangoo 1.4A (not mine), then last Aug I bought a Nissan March 1.0A 1996 model which then I sold after 10 months because breaking down too often, cannot tahan anymore. Then bought the Latio... kinda in an impulse (because damn pek cek already) but didn't regret my choice.
Car is still running in so I don't really whack but once in a while I hit the accelerator harder the car DOES pick up compared to my previous two crappy rides. And for cornering this car is way better than a Kangoo and 1996 Nissan March for sure... I am used to taking corners slowly so no complaints at all.
Sometimes on the expressway I reach 100kph unknowingly. The car is too smooth and quiet. In the old car (nissan march) it starts rattling at like 80kph :P
I've also driven my parent's car which is a 5 year old Volvo S40 2.4i. That car is a monster in power, but the Latio is half the freakin price with the same level of comfort (i love the high headrests). I mean for $120k all you get extra with the volvo is a 2.4i, 6 airbags, full electronic seats with memory, foldaway side mirrors, cruise control and steering audio control. Bleh. Hardly use it. Not worth the $.
The car is heavy... we have to be more patient, but what the heck... it is so comfortable and spacious! And heavy = safe. Latio has a very good side/front impact rating. In fact side impact rating is better than the Volvo S40.
A very unfair comparison though, the Volvo's handling is a little better, because of the toe-in rear wheels, 2.4i engine, 195 pirelli tyres. Maybe when yr-end bonus come I go get a pair of better tyres. The Toyo abit noisy, dont ya think?
Lastly, the sales guy from Automega (Steven) provided excellent top-notch service. Thumbs up.

Bro, where do you get them, and the approx cost? Is it "approved" modification i.e. it wont void wrranty?
-

It not modification, it an add-on. Considered a safety feature. Again it not a must have. :D

i agree. but the cornering at high speed is not advisable if u r using stock tyres hor!!! later skid and buang then tua ki lah

Ya still using stock tire. Actually our stock tire is not that bad, after all it a Toyo, only thing is, it not a comfort and quite a noisy tire. :D
-
If you're using stock tires, be extra careful in the wet. Rear wheels tend to slide :scared:

You just got your new Latio? Congratz !!
O.K, stock tire is quite slippery when new, I do encountered sliding at MSCP. But once it run-in, you will feel a much better grip. :D

iagree.
i aso heard that Toyo is not bad but to use in Msia highway which is very rough, scare Toyo cannot tahan the heat if we drive 300km (all the way to KL fr jb 2nd link), scare tyre pecah!
Along the highway, u can see some sisa-sisa tyres on the road right? That's the one!!!
Noisy, i aso agree with u. + the road quality!

In lay man term, run-in tire = used tire. After your 1st servicing, your tire is already run-in, no worry. ;)

I think our stock tyre is rather good. i mean don't compare to those well-known models, but it gets the job done. Ever drove to cameron highland and back with only one rest stop. And recently back from genting with no stop to my in-law place. The toyo has it fair share of hittng pot holes in those small roads in malaysia and one of the trip my rim got damaged. The toyos is still in great shape. Don't think I'll changed them till them till 40k. They're now 24k.
-

I change to the BridgeStone GR80 2 weeks after I got my Latio. Never regretted since then. The stock Toyo seems very bumpy

Yup, Poh Heng does trade-in for rims, as for tyres depends on your mileage...Currently on Bridgestone G3....firm & quiet ride...

The only thing that I dislike about latio is the bumpy suspension. As for the slow pick-up, already accept the fact due to its weight and build. So you mean after changing to GR80, the ride is not so bumpy now ? You still maintain the 15" rims ?

About a month ago, on my way to A'Famosa resort, when almost reaching, my left back tyre made a loud bursting noise, but luckily in didn't causethe car to swerve. After about 5 km, can hear funny noise and quickly park to the road shoulder and found that it's badly damaged. Anyway, to cut the story short, next day went to Melaka to quickly change all 4 to GR80.

even on 21 June at Orna Golf Course (Malacca), the left rear tyre of my flight mates' buggy expanded and the two of them stopped as the ride was getting bumpy
all of us were standing there looking at it, then it suddenly exploded
play golf so many years never seen that happened
so cannot just blame Toyo tyres leh .......

The spark bridge is to serve as grounding right ? How does it help to reduce the bumpiness ?
Other than changing the suspension, does changing the tyres help ?

Can try the Hankook V2 tyres. it can help to reduce the bumpiness
SB is to improve the slow pick up

Usually those "tyres burst residue/scraps" by the roadside u c in Msia were from lorries/trucks, becos they use "re-cycled tyres/dipped tyres = tyre celup", where is tends to split/breaks easily, tink not fr cars la..
Dont depend on mileage b4 u change ur tyres, important is to see the tread depth indicator (usually cannot be thinner than a match-stick ~3mm) depth left.. or the years it is manufactured, where the warranty is usually 5 yrs fr mfg date, therefore even the tyre is still quite new/less wear off, better to change after 5 yrs life, becos the materials/rubber inside has started to deteriote.. u can see the week/yr of manufacture on the tyre itself..
For me, I hv used ~55K on the stock tyres, 2nd set of Michellin XM1 ~50K, now on 3rd set Michellin MXV8.. :)

oh
cheaper than that "melaka" GR80 leh.
S$85 x RM2.4 = Rm204 per tyre. Cheaper.
