Title: Car scratch at 1st 1K servicing at TPY
Post by: LEE74 on June 28, 2008, 03:48:34 PM
Very disappointed with the service at Toa payoh service center. went there for my first servicing and ended up with scratches. My servicing was done on Sat (due to weekend car)
and after  tat discovered the scratches ....all the pple(mechanics/advisor) already left...only left the receptionist to note down the problem. Somemore I have to make so many calls on next Mon to get this advisor... and told me maybe it was the washing guy and they would respay out of "Goodwill" - he hinted that the scratch may have been there before the servicing and he can say that he did not make a thorough initial inspection as my car was the last few for the day..so mad that they can say such thing...anyway I just want to close the issue so just ask him on respay....then he start asking the ridiculous ... to provide a weekend car coupon to respay at Jurong..very cazy...actually they can also do it in BK service center...this guy came up a crap story that it is company procedure to send to Jurong...until I get his manager number and insist I will call his manager...then he change the respay to BK service center w/o the weekend coupon.

Total piss off with TPY service center....will definitely not go back there.

Understand how you feel...me same case on my first ride...suzuki swift. Sent for first 1k servicing. When reached home, saw 2 dents near the back passenger door. Quickly drove back to the service center to complain. The service guy did not say much. Note down the dents in his report and said that he will call me the next day after consulting with his manager. True enough, he called me and ask me the send my car back to the service center for repair. Since my swift is OPC, they gave me $40 shell voucher ( $20 for using OPC coupon and $20 for petrol since the repair need to be done elsewhere). No complaint from them. Guess they gave me the benefit of the doubt.

Sorry to hear abt it bro...luckily TCM TPY came back to repair your car. "Thumbdowns" to their "goodwill", but it serves as a reminder to ALWAYS check our car upon collection after servicing, so can KPKB the SC if any prob... ;)

Bro, same thing happen to me when i send my car down to ubi tcm during my 1st service. My car got few scatches all over the body. some r minor & 2 scratches r deep cut. I also went to kpkb the SE & same thing he mentioned that might not be caused by them but out of goodwill he get the polisher to polish it off for those minor & ask me come back again the next day to repray the deep scratches but only on that affected area. Not re-spray the whole car.

Actually suck incident can happened to any service centre. I am considering switching to TPY for the next servicing leh.

I've been to both TPY & Ubi for TCM servicing, TPY was for my old sunny ride while Ubi for current latio. Personally I prefer TPY as I could see my car in the servicing area, but for Ubi its at another level. But currently stayin in Tamp so Ubi nearer for me, & the lounge@Ubi more comfortable.  ;)

i service my car at ubi. upon collection, also noticed a deep scratch on the front bonnet. Luckily i pointed out to the service person upon collection. God knows what story they will cook up if i left the place and go back hours later. They mentioned want to respray as goodwill. But told me but put car with them for 1 whole day. i kpkb then they offer loan car. But ********, the petrol they giv is less than 1/4 tank but they indicate 1/4 of petrol given. Really a bunch of cheats. Servicing by agent does not mean anything. Go outside got better service IMO

will it lost value once you have it resprayed?? coz once respray, is no more original paint from jeepun, and ppl might tot is an accident car.. and i don think They will engage a very painter & use a good paint for such minor FOC job.....

Sorry to hear abt your frustrating experience...Seems like quite a number of Nissan owners face some bad experiences during their servicing with TCM...Sometimes I also dont understand why go back to TCM w such bad customer service, think main reason is to prevent void of our ride's warranty..that's why they hold trump card... :scared:

I agree that the staff at TPY cannot make it, be it the receptionist to the manager... Had a VERY VERY bad experience at that centre, the staff was outright insulting to me. I complained all the way to the head office and got extension of my car's warranty and free 60k servicing... Wouldn't want to go back to TPY anymore

Me already gv up TCM since 15K servicing. TCM dun really worth the premium price we paid for the servicing. I intend to change car in between 3-5 years. The warranty not really important to me.

Me almost giving up on TCM too....have 2 more servicing under the NPMP package that will hit 3years of ride, then most likely will service outside too...been doin some hw on good servicing package... ;)

Out-of-point abit: Valeon, what is the next car you aiming for?  :bleh:

If premium price with premium service, I dun mind. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Outside workshop can easily match the standard or even better with cheaper price. So why pay more leh?

OT a bit: Dreaming Honda on next car, either Civic or Stream. Dreaming only, 2 more years to go.  :bleh:

Scratches is nothing, let me share my story here.
Sent in my car for 10K service with $88 added for car wax.

When the service exec took over my car, he drove my car and bang on the wall right in front of me.  :crycry:
then he came out and complaint my brake lock is blocking him and he cannot stop on time.
I was thinking how the heck he can shift the gear if he didn't manage to step on the brake.
Fine, then "out of good will", they will fix everything nicely for me.

At the same day, they call me up to collect my car and still got face to collect $88 for the car wax.
On the bright side, at least I did not notice anything on the damage area. What a service...

I think, will most likely send my car for 20K service outside. I don't want to pay for this kind of service. :out:

Kns, first time I heard this kind of nonsense. Where got a service man bang own workshop wall with customer's car? Bro, you should ask for more in terms of compensation.

Well, let me share my experience... :(

Went to Lok Yang service center to do my 10k servicing. Upon collection at 4:30pm, Notice that there are 2 very deep scratches at the right side of my car, just above the back door. Immediately complain to the SA, and as usual say that the scratch has been there for a long time. I got angry and show the service sheet that he didnt indicate any scratch when he inspected my car. Then, he gave the most incredible excuse ever..."Coz u never show to me mah!"   WTH! I kpkb there and he finally consult his supervisor and spray paint the affected part "out of goodwil" The next incredible thing, i got the car in less than 15 mins!! Maybe coz it is near closing time so do chop chop work! The scratches are gone but what puzzled me was that, does it took tt fast to spray pain? Previously, when i send my car to spray paint job at outside workshop for minor scratches, it took one day! Pray hard    that the paint job by TCM will last!!!

Hi bro, wonder how they did your spraypaint so fast?  :confused1: Maybe they rub a layer of wax over to smoothen the scratch, that's why so fast...nevertheless, bad experience... :glare:

Yep, if the scratch is not deep, a wax and polish job will do the trick.
