Hi
was reading another threat and many say using octante 92...
can our Latio use 92? I thought the manual says minimum is 95,
and 92 only if cannot find 95?

101% confirmed can use 92RON as min requirement is 91RON as stated in user manual.
But the user manual recommends at least 95RON petrol to enhance performance.

I've been on SPC 92 since the first day I got my car, it's being slightly more than 2.5 years, no problems.... FC still about 13.5-14 (Latio sports) :devil2:

92 and 95 >> i dont tihnk our car will see any big diff....... if u compare 92 & 98>> maybe still can see abit of diff
BUT the problem with 92 is that veri few petrol stations got 92 leh...
my areas (aljunied, kallang & paya lebar)>> non have 92 leh.. ONLY selected Shell petrol stations got niah... Caltex and Esso alson no more liao

Esso should have 92RON at all its stations. I have been pumping Esso since Day 1.

Have been using 95 except for two occasions where I pump 92. Personally, I do feel the car not as responsive with 92 and have to step harder. So, back to 95.

You can safely pump 92RON with peace of mind.
If your Latio encounters any problems as a result of pumping 92RON petrol, I buy you a brand new Latio to replace yours... COE included. :D
BMW 7 series owner manual says min RON is 98.
But in the USA, highest RON available is 93RON, and I see the BMW 7 series there pumping 93RON petrol without any problems.

US and singapore use different Ron ratings. Their ratings at the service stations are usually in the PON scale. PON 87/89/91 are commonly available which is equivalent to our RON 90/92/95.
Minimum recommended Ron is based on the lowest grade that will not cause "knocking" in the engine. If you see manuals, they recommend higher grades for Middle east use because the climate is much hotter (hotter intake temps). So, the minimum recommended Ron is very much dependent on region the car is operated in as well.
Had a few friends from Arizona, U.S. They all say there must use higher grade or engine will knock.

Not advisable. BMW has determined that Ron 98 in Singapore is necesary to prevent engine knocking.
My previous post is to say that same engine in different regions have different minimum Ron requirements so cannot compare with U.S. Additionally, U.S. way of calculating Ron also different.

Been using Shell 95 since day 1 of ride, engine response quiet & good....but if in JB usually pump VPower to 'boost' engine performance, if any.... ;D

i just swtiched from shell 98 to shell 95 for the last two pump. i feel my ride like no power or power got cut. or maybe is my psychologically thinking.

next time u go pump petrol u can juz say "Whatever !"

You need time for your engine ECU to adjust to the lower octane petrol.
