You can consider taking the System 6 and Tuff Kote package which is of better value.

You should get your SE to arrange to have your car sent for the System 6 and/or Tuff Kote treatment BEFORE you collect your car.

Your car should be registered only after the above treatment has been done.

This saves you the trouble of having to drive to the workshop to have the treatment done, and also allows your car to be registered a day or two later, hence saving you on daily depreciation, insurance and season parking charges.

It is recommended to take Tuff Kote or any undercoating of similar nature.

If you observe beneath the wheel arch of your soon-to-be-delivered Latio, you will notice that it is bare metal with zero protection.

ic..how much u paid for tuff kote

Just over $200.

Better to get it through your SE.

'Cos when I asked for quote directly from Tuff Kote, I was quoted close to $400.

Or actually you could have also asked your SE to throw it in free for you, since the price he/she pays will definitely be much lower.

Tuff Kote is just application of tar, which is very cheap in nature. Mark up is very high.

Now my SE..reveal the truth...they  wanted to use in house coating rather than the system 6...say in house one better...original from TCM.. not exactly do the sys 6 for me in house.

Luckily I double checked...if not I will just agreed to it. I smell something fishy again..sigh...y I kenna such SE.

If your SE  can give you the in-house coating for free, then there is not need to hesitate - just go for it.

If have to pay, then you may wish to check the price and think about it. Eg. How long do you intend to keep your car before selling? If just a few years, then don't waste your money.

Afterall, resale price of cars in S'pore is simply scrap value plus body value.

The final decision is yours.

Hi guys

Is it necessary to go for paint protection in the first place if constant care and due diligence is taken to "groom the car"?

To me, paint protection is unnecessary as life span of cars in S'pore is only 10 yrs.

But undercarrriage and wheelarch coating is necessary and Nissan Japan has cut cost and Latio wheel arch is bare metal without any protection at all.

However, I would not recommend Tuff Kote as their workmanship is very poor.

I just discovered that my 2 month old Latio Tuff Kote undercoating was not sprayed evenly and some potions were very thin, almost exposing the bare metal.

My SE offer me 3M for 360. He will do it for me before collection of my ride. Has been looking around and found little review on 3M. Suppose to prevent rusts and sound proofing effect with 10 years warranty. Called up Autosaver, and was quoted 365. Meeting me SE later for final paper work. Those who have experience please advise.

icic..thks thks..

So the official quotation is about 300+....my SE say can get 200+. So I think..it is a good deal.

So as for now...3M is the preferred choice...than Tuff kote..anyone with better recommendation?

TIA  ::)

Whether it is 3M, Tuff Kote or any brand, it is the same -they all use tar to coat your undercarriage and wheel arch.

I can confirm that Tuff Kote workmanship and quality has dropped - very disappointing and regret paying top dollar to get my car Tuff Kote.

Many areas in the wheel arch were not fully coated leaving some bare metal exposed, which defeats the primary objective of getting my car Tuff Kote.

U got feedback to tuff kote n demand rework or wat? I will go for 3M under carriage coating then... but will still go for system 6 PPS....hopefully is still good

I did used all their 3 products in my previous ride. Just know that every 6 months need to go back for recoating. Can bring up to them to recoat if there are areas not properly done.

And everytime you go back to recoat, you have to pay again (at least $50) or your Tuff Kote warranty will be void!

Went to do my sys 6 today...like wat Clarence said....standard drop...in fact v bad,
I got some stain near the door edge...they actually never see it...n when I complain...he just say...too bad..cannot remove...just rub rub abit..how to come off

then when I reach home...all my car handle area...full of scratches....Call them back..they say too deep wun be able to conceal or make nicer...I immediately screw that aunty on the phone, telling her how deep can it be...it is so obvious, lack of effort..then she say ask me bring back to do again.... overall exp....really sucks!

You can always bring it back to them to re-do, or ask for a partial refund for an unsatisfactory job done.
